The nearest supermarket is just up the road in Cheriton, or if you don't have a car Hythe and Folkestone are each about 10 minutes away by bus. Both Hythe and Folkestone have a full range of shops. We have in the past hosted channel swimming teams and the house is very suitable as a base for these challenges.More

We booked to stay at the cottage for four days/three nights and it was delightful. Initially there were five of us, but three had to go home for work purposes, leaving just two of us in this large, three bathroom, four bedroom property. The place was clean and tidy and all facilities provided. We cooked a meal on the Sunday using the excellent kitchen, all cutlery and plates and dishes provided there. We also used the dishwasher, which saved some washing up! When we arrived there were no spaces for parking (obviously a busy time for day trippers) so we drove round to the Castle Road car park and paid £1 for two hours. It wasn't long, though, for a space to become available and we left our car there (virtual permit provided by the owners) for the whole time. It was a truly delightful cottage making the whole visit relaxing.

I would like to state this is a review of a relative of the person who booked. Brilliant position at Sandgate great views. Sadly I found the cleanliness lacking in most rooms certainly the two bathrooms I used and our bedroom on the top floor.

Oh dear. This seems to be inconsistent with other reviews and also the review the organiser of this reunion left on Airbnb.

We stayed at the Albion Cottage for 2 weeks. It was a great stay! The rooms were spacious and clean, and the sea views were spectacular! It is a good place to stay with children because the beach is two steps away. We will be glad to come and stay again in the future!

Spacious period property right on the seafront, minutes walk from coffe shops, restaurants, pubs and mini-supermarkets. Even a castle 100 yards along the beach! and Folkstone is only a short drive away. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, kitchen was well fitted with a separate dining room- plenty of room for the 6 of us.Would deffinately use this cottage again!

Step out of the front door (almost) directly on to the beach. 15 metres to the right is a friendly cafe ready to serve you coffee and a snack. Then 50 metres away is the High Street with excellent places to eat - all independently-run and not a multi-chained outlet in sight! So, if you want breakfast, lunch or supper, it's there for the asking. The house has an immediate comfortable feel about it and was ideal for us with its three bathrooms - so nobody got in the way of each other. Although only a few days stay, we all felt very relaxed afterwards, greatly helped by the glorious weather.

Lovely quirky cottage in fab location right next to sea, restaurants and village shops. Spread over 3 floors the house accommodated 5 adults and 4 kids with ease giving us all space to socialise together or separate off. Very relaxed and accommodating owners were super helpful with late check out when one of our party was ill. Would recommend this place to anyone.

We had travelled from Australia to swim the English Channel and required seperate bedrooms for each team member. We found the location was fantastic being right on the beach, and close to many local eateries and pubs. We had great communication from the owner who was very helpful and accommodating of our required dates, and all instructions on heating for the apartment were simple to follow. This was a perfect choice for our team. The only improvements would be to replace a couple of the pillows, and replace the older frypans.

We booked this as a family holiday for my Dad's 60th. My Dad loves beaches and unusual properties. Albion cottage was fantastic. Loads more character than the photos suggest, it is quirky and cosy but spacious enough for 8 of us to not feel on top of each other. Everything was clean and tidy and Mr Kemp responded promptly and helpfully to the couple of issues we initially had. I also love the fact that guests have clearly added to the stock of books and games throughout the property as well as basics such as salt and pasta sauces in the kitchen. We had a range of ages and tastes in our group but everyone loved this property. Sandgate itself is a lovely gem with its useful village shop, nice pubs and a very nice Indian restaurant complementing the clean and quiet beach. Having the beach literally across the road from the property was the biggest plus making both my Dad and my 3 year old daughter very happy! Parking is tight but there are options. With Hythe, Folkstone and the wonderful Brockhill Country Park very close by car, there is plenty to do locally. We will definitely be coming back and would recommend to anyone.

The cottage is in a great location, right on the shingle beach at Sandgate. Very quiet, no traffic noise, all you can hear is the sea. The cottage was clean and tidy with lots of character and had a bathroom and toilet on each floor. Superb take aways, restaurants and a cafe all within walking distance. The village shop is just across the road and large supermarkets not far away. We have booked the cottage for next year it was that good. Our only negative observations are that the kitchen is quite small and the lounge did not have enough comfortable seating for everyone; that said, we were a large group of 9.

About the neighbourhood
Sandgate is a friendly peaceful village which has a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Folkestone is a pleasant twenty minute walk away along the seafront and has further pubs, cafes and restaurants including the award winning Rocksalt on the harbour front. The Ship Inn is close to the house and is a very friendly local pub with a great restaurant, Stuart and Wendy who own it are old friends. There is also an Indian restaurant, a Thai Restaurant and various takeaway restaurants. There are no banks in the village but the village shop has a free cashpoint and the Ship Inn will both you cashback. There are a few small food shops but the nearest supermarket is the Tesco by the motorway junction. For other shopping Folkestone and Hythe both have a wide range of shops including Wa...
