Half Moon Bay is a spacious modern home with fabulous views over the bay of Morar towards Eigg and Rum. Situated on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland, Morar is approximately half way between Arisaig and Mallaig. Half Moon Bay is the perfect holiday location for family get togethers, and is the ideal base from which to explore the Highlands and Islands of the West Coast of Scotland. Here there are local activities to suit absolutely everyone, you can enjoy beautiful coastal and mountain walks, while away the hours building a masterpiece on the beach, or simply watch the world go by and enjoy the ever changing vista of the ebb and flow of the tide. Half Moon Bay provides welcoming, comfortable and spacious accommodation for up to eight people. There is a large well-equipped and modern kitchen with dining for 8. The kitchen was newly installed in Nov 2019 along with all the appliances. The living room has a smart TV with free sat and DVD player which leads to the conservatory with fabulous views across the Silver Sands of Morar and over to Rum and Eigg. The Master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite shower room, it has a fabulous gable end full height window which leads out onto a lovely balcony. Here is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine and just enjoy the view. There is also one twin bedded room, a double room, further shower room, and also an additional bathroom with bath downstairs. Bedding and towels are provided for the 3 bedrooms. If you wish to use the sofa bed, there is a king sized duvet and pillows but please bring your own duvet cover, pillow cases and towels. The sofa bed is a small double and is suitable for 2 children/ young teens or one adult. Please also bring beach towels. Outside there is a spacious decked area with patio furniture and a bar b que. There is a small grassed area to the side and parking for 2 cars. Please note these outside areas are not secure for children or dogs. A second living room has a sofa bed which can be used as an extra bedroom if required. This room also has a TV with free sat, a DVD player and an Xbox 360 with games. The property has high speed fibre wifi. Every room in the house (except for the bathrooms) has views over Morar bay towards Rum and Eigg. There is a beautiful beach just a short walk away with many others such as Camusdarach Beach, Tougal and Traigh just a few minutes drive away. Behind the house the famous west coast railway runs from Fort William to Mallaig. The Jacobite steam train runs throughout the summer months which is a fabulous sight. All trains run very slowly through the village so noise isn`t a problem. There are many restaurants and bars nearby serving a variety of local produce, but there is a lovely hotel in Morar just a short walk away plus Sunset - a fab Thai takeaway where everything is freshly cooked to order. For our younger guests a highchair and stair gates are available to use. There is also a children`s play park just across the street. We are also happy to welcome up to two well behaved dogs at a small additional charge. Dogs are not permitted in upstairs rooms or on the furniture. Please bring your pet`s bed and food bowls with you. This site has secure booking but does charge a booking fee. If you would prefer to book directly you can find us by searching for Half Moon Bay Morar. The property is in an elevated position hence the driveway is rather steep but you can take the car right up to the house.

A home from home
We really enjoyed our stay here. The whole house was lovely and clean and welcoming. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were able to cook some lovely meals without feeling restricted by what was or wasn't available to use. My youngest really appreciated the Xbox and games, thank you! My eldest really appreciated a good TV to watch Wimbledon on! The beds were lovely and comfortable with good quality bedding and ample towels were provided. The kitchen proved to be a great sociable space, and with the games room and conservatory we all had space to chill out on our own if we wanted and read a book. The bathrooms were all good, handy to have a few loos with teenage boys..... I'd highly recommend Morar for a holiday, we loved the beach and we spent time in both Arisaig and Mallaig, both really close by in the car. I'd definitely come back and revisit, the area is beautiful, and if we were to do that we'd check to see if this house was available first! We hope all future guests enjoy it as much as we did. 😊

Stunning place
Stayed here for 5 days. Absolutely stunning views and accommodation is beautiful. Loved the log burner! Beautiful scenery and lovely walks and was amazing watching the tide change and the sunsetting. Only 5 mins in car to Mallaig. Will definitely come back here in the summer months.

Half Moon Bay Holiday Cottage
Loved our stay at Half Moon Bay Cottage. Home was warm and cosy with stunning views over the water. House was immaculate and had everything you could need.Loved the log fire. Only a few minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes drive to the Silver Sands beaches. Jacobite train passes the house. Will definately book again.

Perfect
This a review mostly on the property as it always up to the individual to make the fun . The house is in a perfect location just to stay here felt like you were coming home every night , we were very comfortable quiet no intrusion of neighbors. However you do need a car or a little over a mile to the nearest beach that’s beautiful fine with dogs , children and stuff need transport ! . All is provided technology wise bring your own dvds music ever etc . Train station is fun watching the Jacobite coming and going didn’t realise we had to book so far In advance but still did the same journey on western rail saw the same views , stunning. Most amazing views from this house even on a wet day it’s not a problem . Many thanks to the owners we loved it as they obviously do

Beautiful house in a peaceful location!
The house is wonderful and was near perfect for our week long stay. The board games and puzzles were a nice surprise and a welcome entertainment on the rainy days. We loved the log burner which made the room nice and cozy on the cold rainy evenings. There was plenty of space without feeling cramped and on top of each other. The approach to the house is a very steep hill which was tricky when going out for walks as we have a child in a wheelchair so this is worth considering if disabled access is something that you need. Luckily, with my nephew only being 4 years old it wasn't too big of a problem but an adult wheelchair may have struggled. The only thing preventing us from giving the full 5 star rating is the additional bed. The property is advertised as being able to sleep 8, with there being the option of the double sofa being the additional. This sofa bed in our opinion was not fit to sleep on for a full week. We had a pregnant guest with us as well as two older guests who the mattress was just completely unsuitable for as it was very thin. We managed to make the week work without using the sofa bed but this is definitely worth thinking about if booking for 8 guests. That being said, the bedrooms and sleeping accommodations in them were extremely comfortable and everyone slept very well throughout our stay. The property is pet friendly which was a must have for our trip so this was perfect. There are so many walks and beaches in the area that the dogs were never short of a run around which was great. Despite the weather not being on our side for the majority of the week, the views from the property were always second to none. The steam train runs right behind the house which was a frequent source of excitement for the children. Morar station is a short 5 min walk which we did at 6:30pm a couple of nights to see the steam train up close as it passed through the town. The walks were wonderful, from walking to and around loch morar to walking up to the morar cross, we were always able to get our steps in and take in the fresh Scottish air. The area has a lot of nostalgia and sentimental value for a few of our guests so this property was the perfect way to keep the holiday with a growing family. Entrance to the house was quick and simple and we didn't experience any issues all week. We would definitely recommend this property.

Fabulous views !
Beautiful house in a stunning setting. The views from the windows are simply amazing. The steam railway is right behind it which is a bonus. Don't worry it doesn't run at night and the noise from it is minimal.I only have 1 small grumble and that was an old dishcloth and sponge was left for us to use. I feel given the price they are , new ones would be more appropriate.

Fantastic
Just to let everyone know that we took a week in may at the above mentioned house. Fantastic well equipped modern style house. We played on the beach , we fished,We entertained , we ate, drank and slept well. Great base for a holiday in a spectacular location. In the process of booking up again for next year .we all can't thank you enough. Thank you .

Absolute Paradise
Halfmoon Bay... what can I say!! Beautiful property in a raised elevation with stunning views of the Isles and majestic evening sunsets. Close to the iconic Camusdarach Beach and the Jacobite Steam Train runs past daily at the rear of the garden
