Avra is a two-floor building that can accommodate 2-3 persons and consists a marvelous combination of traditional style and luxury. On the ground floor there is a spacious living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. In addition, visitors can have access to the yard and garden. The bedroom is on the first floor and is also equipped with wooden furniture. The large balcony, with a view to the village and mountain , gives visitors the opportunity to feel the breeze of the landscape.

A beautiful place to stay right in the heart of Archanes Village!
My husband and I chose this property because we wanted a village experience and wanted to get to know the Greek people. We are wine enthusiasts so we also chose it because of the close proximity to many of the wineries. We were not disappointed! It was exactly as presented. Lefteris, who served us hearty delicious breakfasts along with Miss Maria, treated us like family. He was a great source of local information and eager to share his knowledge with us. Unfortunately my husband became very sick during our stay and was hospitalized on the island of Crete. I'm not sure we would have survived all my husband went through without Lefteris guiding through the many decisions we had to make while he was ill. He truly cares about his guests and will make your stay one that is very personal and enjoyable. The village is one experience I am so thankful I was able to be part of. I met so many wonderful and caring Greek people while staying at Kalimera. You really feel part of something special.

About the neighbourhood
Archanes is traditional village full of history, is also very famous for the local's wines. In an orbit of 6 kilometers around the village, you can visit local wineries and taste wines like Vidiano, Kotsifali, Mantilari, Liatiko etc. At the village's central square you can enjoy local food and feel the atmosphere of how it looks like being a villager in Crete.
Getting around
Visit Yiouchtas mountain ( it has the shape of a face looking up in the sky ) and see Archanes from above. At the top of the mountain, there is a unique little church of Christ and a temple from the Minoan civilization.
You can do mountain bike, bird watching and you can see and smell the local herbs, like oregano, rosemary and many more. You can visit the Minoan villa where the first winery found 2.500 BC. At Kato Archanes you can visit Fourni forest and visit the ancient theater and the first Christian cemetery.

1. From the Airport Nikos Kazantzakis / Port of Heraklion you take the road to the industrial area of Heraklion and after a strait rout of 10 kilometers you will see the crossroad (right direction) drive's you to Archanes Village.
2. You take the road to Knossos and after 7 kilometers you are at Archanes Village.
