This villa's photographs , although stunning do not do it justice. It is spectacular inside and out. We arrived to beautiful October warmth and sunshine and were greeted by Maria who showed us around. She probably thought I was bonkers as I kept oohing and ahhing. What was especially lovely to arrive after our very long journey was the huge fruit basket, chocolates, wine,biscuits,yoghurt and other delights. Back to the accommodation...it was when we went upstairs and saw the size of our bedroom - it was the size of the whole of downstairs and had a jacuzzi bath by the window...ah, many a night was spent, glass of port in hand , covered in bubbles watching the sunset and even better on one occasion watching the fiercest lightening we had ever seen. I could go on and on but won't.
This villa sits on a hill in complete privacy. Shops are about a 10 minute drive away. There is a little winery 5 minutes drive away (the owner and his 10 cats is happy to chat and let you taste his wine. Of course we bought a couple of bottles, even though 2 of his cats sneaked into our car and pinched our lunch-gyros pitta) and also there are 2 or 3 restaurants too. We stayed at the villa every night. My husband is an excellent cook.
Maria,our host, is very welcoming, keeps this lovely house immaculately and is there, on the end of the phone, if you need her. We will definitely return.

Marias villa is magnificent and she us the sweetest host I have ever experienced
We had the most glorious time in Villa Petrino, it is a luxurious and charming villa in a secluded and beautiful location overlooking the magnificent ocean and majestic mountain

About the neighbourhood
Chalikounas beach is a huge, sandy shore approximately 3 kilometers long on the south-western shore of Corfu. It is one of the most impressive beaches of the island as this large, sandy shore extends along Lake Korission, separating the lake from the sea. The natural environment in Chalikounas beach is unique, unaltered even by tourism. Lake Korission, moreover, is the most significant wetland of the whole island and it is a preserved area. There is a small, wooden bridge which allows you to cross to the opposite shore at that point where the lake connects and flows into the sea. In the surrounding area extends a dense forest full of impressive cedar-trees.
Chalikounas beach is a paradise for surfers and for those who Kite surf due to the strong winds blowing in the area. Because of its vast size, it is never crowded even though it is one of the most popular shores of the island.
In Chalikounas beach there are two beach bars in front of which you will find parasols and deck-chairs. The beach is accessible by car with many parking lots available. One of its benefits is the fact that it is accessible even to handicapped people as it has wheelchair ramps at certain strategic points.
