Each of the private, self-catering apartments is completely self-contained, with its own well-equipped kitchen (including large fridge-freezer & full-size cooker), private bathroom, entrance, patio or balcony, lounge area and a secure lockable safe for your valuables. Tamarind is the most spacious apartment, with a large decking area overlooking Big Bay and Heavenly Bay. The second bedroom is smaller and has restricted views, more suitable for children. This apartment can be connected with Saffron for larger groups of family or friends. All apartments have access to Castara Cottage’s shared BBQ area which is situated on the upper level of the property. The area comprises of a brick built grill, with a table and seating for up to 6 adults. Each apartment is equipped with a standing fan. Towels and linens are changed 2-3 times per week by our friendly housekeeper. Outdoor showers are available in both Tamarind and Cinnamon apartments to rinse off after a trip to the beach. Large shutters allow for plenty of air-flow and for views of the gorgeous birds in the surrounding fruit and cocoa trees. A private, outdoor patio area provide the opportunity to relax and dine in Tobago’s warm climate. We stayed six nights and had a very hard time leaving. Thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding natural beauty and relaxing experience of living temporarily in...More

About the neighbourhood
Castara is situated on the very edge of the luscious, tropical rainforest, half way along the north-coast of the island. A great base from which to explore the rest of the island with the pristine Englishman’s Bay a mere 5 minute drive and the protected Rainforest Reserve a leisurely 20 minutes away. The neighbouring rainforest gives visitors ample opportunity for hiking, bird-watching or exploring the tropical flora and fauna with a local guide. An impressive coral reef just metres from the beach allows even inexperienced snorkelers to come face-to-face with majestic angelfish, sea turtles and the friendly stingrays that frequent the bay each afternoon.
Getting around
A bus service runs through the village approximately once every 2 hours and goes to Scarborough (or L’Anse Fourmi in the opposite direction). Bus tickets must be bought before boarding the bus and it costs $5tt to get into Scarborough. Tickets can be bought from any of the small shops that display a ‘PTSC Tickets Sold Here’ sign, or ask any local person. However, to explore Tobago, you really do need a car or taxi. Some activities are better taken with a tour guide or trusted local person.
