We had the most amazing holiday in Chalet V this summer. As we are a group of hobby cooks with kids, we went for the Self-Catered option expecting to buy or bring everything ourselves upon arrival.
The first nice surprise were the chilled bottles of champagne, accompanied by some nice snacks, offered by Patrick, the owner of the Chalet. There was a nice fruit basket as well as a bouquet of fresh flowers and in the fridge we could find a lot of the basics including milk, cheese, eggs, butter, soft drinks, beers etc etc to give us a flying start into the holiday week. Furthermore, all of the essentials were there including fresh herbs from the garden, tons of dried spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, flower, tea, coffee, nespresso caps etc etc.
Not only does Chalet V have beautiful silverware, crystal glasses and an amazing choice of fine China, we were also amazed by the large selection of kitchen utensils available. Just to name a few: KitchenAid with plenty of accessories, a microwave, 5 induction cooking plates, a teppanyaki plate, 3 ovens (the Lachanche is amazing, I want one!), 2 pancake makers, 3 fondue sets, 2 raclette sets, a smoker, the list is endless.
There is a large outdoor area with luxury furniture, two barbecues, a dining table seating 12 people as well as a covered outdoor smoking lounge (smoking inside is not allowed).
We loved the all-year heated pool (32 degrees, yes! that's my idea of a heated pool) and the large Jacuzzi, both with amazing mountain views.
Inside we had a small but high tech steam shower as well as a large sauna, a retro pinball machine (not just fun for kids, we all loved it).
The 5 bedrooms and four bathrooms are beautifully decorated with high end materials (italian design in the bathrooms, cosy mountain design for the bedrooms). The living room is large, cozy and comfortable. The whole Chalet is built with reclaimed wood, which gives it a very special homely feeling from the moment you walk in. There is a lift connecting all floors as well, suited for the elderly or movement restricted people and no need to drag any luggage upstairs. Our dog loved the elevator too!
One other thing I want to mention is the fact that Patrick was always available to answer questions and to give tips on where to go for a hike, where to eat, what to do etc.
Truly an amazing chalet, we did not hesitate and booked our winter week before we left.
