The Old Workshop is a luxury two bed cottage in a private courtyard on the edge of Bath. As the other four properties i9n our courtyard, (see below), the Old Workshop is finished to a very high four star standard and has achieved a 'Gold' award from 'Visit Britain' the UK's official tourism authority. It's ideal for a romantic get-away, a relaxing break or a base for all the many sights of the area. The accommodation is flexible, so the property is suitable and cost effective for between one and four people.

The Old Workshop has stunning views at the rear of the river Avon and beyond, underfloor heating, luxury oak painted kitchen, an ensuite shower room and main shower room. You can walk to the river Avon and a super riverside pub from where you can take a beautiful boat trip into the City of Bath. The surroundi...

We stayed a week at The Old Workshop in March. There is off street parking for two vehicles near to the front door. The accommodation is very comfortable, extremely quiet, has good lighting throughout and lovely views across the Avon. There is underfloor heating to all rooms which was set at a comfortable temperature and did not need any adjustment...

Management response:

Thanks for your comprehensive, objective and detailed review Geoff. We much appreciate it and are pleased you had such a good time. We have the occasional intermittent problem with the internet which is annoying as most of the time it is fine, but we are working on making it more consistent. We are pleased you found our detailed information useful...

We had a lovely stay at The Old Workshop last weekend to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The accommodation was lovely, clean and all aspects perfect for us! The welcome pack was a lovely addition, which set us up with breakfast for our walk to Bath centre. Great location for a romantic weekend. Close enough to city centre to walk...

Management response:

That's very nice to hear Nicola. As this is a new property to us, reviews like yours make such a difference. We hope you will come again and perhaps also consider one of our other properties in the Coortyard in Batheaston. Regards John and Jane Stay-in-bath

Additional amenities & feature info
The Old Workshop has been set up to maximise the views over the beautiful Bathampton meadows at the rear, so the lounge/kitchen/dining area is on the top floor and the two bedrooms on the ground floor.

The fresh air ventilation and heat recovery system, coupled with luxurious underfloor heating, means you should enjoy perfect temperatures all year round.

Much use has been made of natural materials, so you will find lots of oak throughout the property, including the kitchen cabinets, which have been painted in one of our favourite Farrow and Ball colours.

The lounge area has two Chesterfield 2 seater leather sofas in which you can just sit and enjoy the view or take in some DVDs or your favourite music from the docking station.

The kitchen area, with its Bosch oven and hob is designed t...

About the neighbourhood
Bath has served as the pleasure drome of the UK for over 2000 years and there are few places which can even begin to equal it's unique combination of history, architecture, shopping and gastronomy.

Bath is a World Heritage tourist destination, its history dating back to pre Roman times. It is acknowledged as the second most popular tourist destination in England.

Renowned Georgian architecture rivalling that of Paris, Venice or Rome has been enhanced in recent years with the addition of the £45+million Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural thermal spa, featuring the natural mineral waters which first attracted the Romans, who named Bath, Aquae Sulis. The spaoffers every kind of luxury pampering experience, including the open air roof top hot bath, which is not to be missed.

Getting around
We are very lucky to have excellent transport links of all kinds, especially the bus stop on the road outsidse the courtyard.

Guests find this the most convenient way to access the City, bypassing much of the trafiic with bus lanes. On average it takes about 10 minutes to the City. Most guests leave their cars in our car park and use the bus for the duration of their stay.

But perhaps the most popular way to access the City is by water! Just 10 minutes walk from the property is the Bathampton Mill where you may catch one of a number of river buses into the City from March to Oct. It is a beautiful way to see Bath from another angle. Return to Batheaston by bus.

For those arriving by train, a taxi will bring you to us for less than £10

The Old Workshop is accessed through a courtyard just off the High Street in the village of Batheaston, one of the small suburbs of the famous historic City of Bath.

Access by road is very simple. We are about half a mile from the main roundabout intersection of the A46 onto the London Road going into Bath.

There is a secure car parking space immediately in front of the property, whilst the bus stop, with regular services to and from the City, is immediately in front of the main building on the High Street. Typical journey time by bus or car is 10 minutes.

You can also walk or cycle, the towpath along the canal being a particularly attractive route. For a really leisurely journey you can get the boat to and from the City, from a landing stage by the weir on the river, just 5 or so minut...
