Overview
Holiday Rental House -
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 4
Seillans, French Riviera - Cote d'Azur, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur
Our medieval village home was beautifully restored in the Provencal manner by Christian Richer, a local architect known for his ability to retain the character and charm of these fine old structures. Renters tell us that our home is also quite modern and very comfortable. Contemporary kitchen and bath fixtures have been carefully matched with raised-panel woodwork, wrought-iron hardware, terracotta tiles, white plaster walls, large windows, and medieval details. Both the main house and guest house are compact and vertical in nature. Rooms are bright and open but not large by US standards. And be prepared to go up and down the narrow spiral staircase. The front hall at #12 includes a coat closet and utility room and on rainy days some say there is a slight smell of horse (likely a phantom from earlier times when animals were kept down bel... My wife and I stayed at this beautiful place last week. Other reviews do not exaggerate its qualities --- this place is terrific. Seillans was quiet this time of year, and we saw very few people except at restaurants. The recommendations of the Jespersens were...More

About the neighbourhood
Medieval village of Seillans (pronounced say-ah), perched in the foothills of the Var in southern France, about 40 minutes due north of St Tropez and a 45 minute drive from the Nice Cote d'Azur Airport. Quiet medieval village with local shops, good restaurants and easy driving to many local attractions and other destinations. There are several well-marked hiking trails through the foothills that begin in Seillans. No cars are allowed in the center of the village so you park in one of the little public parking lots around the perimeter of the village. Walk in to the house is about 100 meters over cobblestones and some inclines. Wear sensible shoes and pack a medium suitcase.
Getting around
Rental car is a must though there is a local bus line that can get you to Cannes or Nice.

How to get there
Airport: Nice Cote d'Azur: 48.0 km
Railway: Saint-Raphael TGV: 32.0 km
Flying in to Nice (NCE) airport is best. Rent a car, hop on the Autoroute (The A8) and follow the A8s blue signs pointing in the direction of Aix en Provence (west). Exit the A8 at exit ramp #39 and head to Fayence. Seillans is the next village. There are two toll plazas along the way. Be prepared and have at least five 1-euro coins for the tolls because most US bank or credit cards do not work in the automatic machines. And you will need a 1-euro coin to release the luggage carts at the Nice airport. You get the coin back when you return the cart and hook it back to the others.
