back at the Pearl for 4 nights earlier this month. (aug 2017). the place is still as charming as ever... the housekeeper and the resident dogs still as friendly as ever... the beautiful sunsets and the manificient Andaman Seas! this is our 4th trip in the last the last 5 yrs which show how much we love the place. however, the black Pearl is starting to show its age... leaking roof at the balcony during the rainy days. water dripping from thr front pouch on my 1st day which is a sunny day . (not too sure about the weather the days before). and some missing tiles in the pool. basically the place almost the same as i first stepped in about 5 years ago but starting to age. We do get some food, fruits and drinks prepared for the last 4 trips but it was not available this trip. Worse of all, there is no cable tv (the owner, Patrick told me that most guests are not watching the cable tv as most of them uses their IPad to watch so he removed them; he claimed that the no cable tv will be provided as stated in his website. well the website did says "fully furnished".it was available for my last 4 trips) There is no hifi system as well. it was also there for the my last 4 trips (remember the ad says "fully furnished!") what is a good holiday with no music! there was a set in another unit but he mentioned it belong to another owner so cant use it). we cant stream movies from our phones to the tv as well either cos either we dont know how to steam it or the tv is old (at least 5yrs) we can live with the leaking balcony roof but cant live without music! Being returning guests for the 4th time and not getting the feeling of being treated like returning guests, me and my party (one of my fren is from Holland and this is his 2nd year at the black pearl) has decided this will be out last trip to the black pearl for vacation. *To be fair the owner, he did offered to get the housekeeper to make us porridge for breakfast on one of the mornings. however we did take up the offer as we do not wake up early on holidays.

This property is perfect for a group of friends. My husband and I came here from Australia with my brother and his partner. We all have a spacious bedroom with airy private bathrooms and beds that are so big. Perfect for sleeping in. The pool is large enough to do laps, if you're feeling energetic enough. Or there's the long deserted beach to walk along. But we worked up a thirst watching the sunsets every night and thinking about energetic things to do the next day that never happened. Keaw is a great cook. Eat in. Life doesn't get better. There is a convenience store a 15 min walk away.... But if that's too much, Keaw will go for you. And the fridge can always stay stocked with minimal effort. A rental car might be good for people wanting too see more than an amazing sunset. But we were picked up at the airport and dropped off, for a reasonable extra fee. Happy to do that again. Tips: there is a TV, but we all brought books. And iPads . Set, really. Dogs? Best Guest Relations officers ever. Will miss them.

Lovely house with full of characters, pool overlooking to 180-degree sea view - great place to watch sunset. Closer to the airport and will take about 45mns - 1 hour to Patong area. The helper can cook fantastic meals if you are lazy to go out.

This designer villa works very well for a group of friends or a big family. It is splendid and well equipped. The living area opens on a panoramic terrace which extends onto an infinity pool offering amazing sunset views. The bedrooms, all with en suite bathroom, are very cosy. The villa is conveniently located a few minutes from the airport. Pom is a great host, quick with emails and forthcoming with any information that you would require. He had a great list of recommendations that we followed and thoroughly enjoyed. He also had a rental car delivered to the villa that we let at the airport before leaving Phuket. I recommend this villa and Pom to anyone who would like to enjoy Phutet's many attractions and come back to a calm nest.

The modern, rich design and decor of the Black Pearl set the mood for a wonderful weekend. It's comfortable and secluded to give total privacy, although the downside is the distance to Patong and the south of Phuket, but this is a price worth paying to have the tranquil intimacy and secrecy of the villa.

We enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Black Pearl. We were two couples, no kids, on a Christmas vacation to Thailand - looking for a private, quiet location to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Black Pearl offered a what we were looking for and proved to be in a decent location which allowed us easy enough access to the rest of Phuket when we wanted to shop, fish, tour or eat. A few small quibbles kept this from being an excellent stay - but we don't think any of them would keep us from staying again. The Black Pearl is a three-apartment villa built on the edge of a national park reserve in Phuket. The house sits on a small local road which is used by the occasional motorbike or car, but in no way is busy or intrudes on your experience. You are right on the beach and the view is great. As others have mentioned the villa is close to the Airport, but again we didn't find that the air traffic bothered us at all. The villa is the only one on the street and you are a 5 min. walk away from the Centara resort. The Marriott resort is also close by, but you do not see any beach traffic from either resort. The beach area in front of the house was almost always empty and we really liked feeling like the only ones around. Occasionally some locals would come to the park area near the house, but it was never intrusive. The villa itself is showing a bit of its age and you'll notice a few rough spots. Ultimately it did not impede our vacation though it kept us from rating this stay as 'Excellent'. The dogs are nice enough and we enjoyed having them around, though one of them seems to have chewed on the edges of nearly all the deck chairs - you notice it when resting your arms on the chair. We only had two pads given to us for the loungers on the patio by the pool approximately half-way into our vacation. We thought this was a bit odd and the girls didn't much care for sitting on hardwood loungers for the first 3-4 days. Refreshing some of the lounge/pool furniture would be a welcome addition. If they need to, keep the dogs away from the pool area to prevent damage, after all isn't that why you came? to sit by the pool and beach? One annoying point that stood out to us all was the engine/water pump which is placed two lots down from the villa. This pump is used for an in-land shrimp hatchery and runs from 8am-8pm everyday. Its not seriously loud, but its always in the background and was noticeable at the pool. It prevented us from having total peace and quiet poolside each day. A shame really as I'm not sure what the owners of the villa can do to change this. The pump runs pipes into and out of the water down the beach - these hatcheries are a reality in Thailand we know, but a shame this one placed its a noisy pump close by nonetheless. The AC in the master bedroom stopped working sometime in the evening on two occasions, but Pak was quick to have it fixed (and ultimately replaced). I note this to indicate the speed with which concerns are addressed. These things happen sometimes, its nice to have someone who is responsive when things go bad. We did all of our own cooking when we stayed in for meals, so we cannot comment on the maids cooking ability. We felt as though the maid service was adequate during our stay - but it wasn't excellent. A few days the beds were not made up and she seemed to come by once a day for general cleaning, after that nothing more was done. When you have a fully stocked kitchen for cooking, things get dirty at meal times, stopping by occasionally would have been appreciated. We appreciated the fridge being stocked upon our arrival, it made breakfast/lunch on the first day very easy and allowed us to relax after our travel versus having to go to the local Tesco for groceries right away. This was a very nice touch. The villa has most everything you could possibly need - internet, A/C, fans, beach towels, plates/cups/glassware, TV, DVD player, iPod hookup for tunes by the pool, etc. Lastly, we visited when we were the only people at the villa. I would have to say our experience would have changed considerably if we were sharing the villa with other visitors. I supposed there is no way of figuring this out in advance, unless Pak knows the owners schedule. We all agreed it would have been quite different if the other apartments (multiple bedrooms each) were full and their occupants were at the pool, etc. Not a complaint, just something to think/inquire about if you're looking for privacy.

We travelled with our 6 month old son, my mother and a couple of friends and WOW WOW WOW The Black Pearl is a beautiful condo right on the water with everything you need and more. there was even a cot for our son and plenty of food in the fridge. the kitchen is stocked with lots of leftover goodies to whip up an easy meal. It's away from the hustle and bustle and you can really unwind and relax. The owner and housekeeper were very friendly and the dogs are friendly too. You really won't want to leave, we were sad to go but will definitely be back! Tip - rent a car. We did and in doing so it was an adventure, we felt like locals!

The villa is set right by the beach - just a small lane separating the villa from the sand, used by a few locals riding their mopeds. It has a huge pool, lots of places to lounge. The free wi-fi was very handy as we still had to do a few hours work each day. There is no house phone. There was satellite TV, CDs and quite a few Dvds. The large kitchen has everything you need for self catering. We slept in the bedroom closest to the front door. We had the best nights' sleep. The king size bed was comfortable, nice clean cotton linen, and air con was quiet. The en suite was large but a bit tired. We could have used one of the other two bedrooms both of which have much nicer bathrooms. Plenty of hot water, the shower was spacious and good water pressure so we were happy. The house was kept very clean. Keow (the maid) was lovely and she cooked a couple delicious meals for us. We don't speak Thai so make sure you download an app-very handy! It was nice and comforting having someone living on site. Pak was easy to contact. He helped me organise some of the best massages I've had in ages. We love dogs so having them hanging around us made us feel even more at home. The airport isn't far away so there is a little bit of air traffic noise but not enough to disturb our peace. Don't even think about staying here unless you are prepared to drive. Mai Khao Beach is a bit isolated and unless you are a strong swimmer stick to the pool. Tesco is 15km away, otherwise there are lots of local shops nearby. Phuket Town is about 45km away. The 5 star resorts are up the road and there is a local bar/restaurant a few minutes away. Lots of real local food available. It's the only place we've ever stayed where we want to go back. You must keep in mind that it is someone's home -just like your house is your home. It's not manicured to an inch of its life like a resort. It is someone's beautiful home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I love the Black Pearl! This is my second stay here in two months. What makes the property so unique is the design and the little touches to details. It was clearly designed by the owner who is an interior architect or designer or artist, because it's so different from your usual cookiecutter rental properties that are designer or renting out but lack any kind of personal touch. At the Black Pearl you feel at home. There are other aspects that make it feel a home. It is so well equipped. The kitchen has everything, you can even host a party, there are plenty of wine and champaign glasses, for example. Keaw's cooking (the staff there) is divine local food. I love it. It's so flavorful. If you like seafood, let her know. She makes a gat variety if Thai food. Each of the three bedrooms feels like a master bedroom, with e suite bathroom. Both times I was here, we were completely alone (nobody at the other two apartments of the Black Pearl, which share the pool). I was well aware that the property is secluded and not near any of the popular tourist spots. If you want to see Phuket while staying at the Black Pearl, you'd need to organise transportation or better, rent a car. There are no bigger shops in walking distance. This is no issue for me as my friends here in Phuket do have a car. I would always come back here and recommend this place to my family and friends. Don't hesitate to book here.
