On the property you will find a variety of small farm animals ranging from chickens, geese, ducks and rabbits which are all free range. We also have American Quarter Horses. La Varache is a great location to stay with your horses, spend the day out riding and come back in the evening to your own gite or as a one night stop over on a longer trek! We can either stable your horses or put them out to grass.
La Varache has been tastefully converted from a 15th century house incorporating many modern facilities along side original old world beams and wood burning stoves. There are two kitchens, two lounges, two decks and is perfect for family reunions, parties, etc.
The gite can accommodate from as little as one to fifteen people.
There are Bar-B-Q areas for those who want to cook out at the same time enjoying a glass or two of wine while watching the sun go down. The gites can be divided in two and rented on a separate basis or booked together.
The gite has full central heating for all year round letting. There is “Sky TV free to air” in both lounges and wifi internet access.
Both decks face west and are a delightful for evening soirees.
C'était Parfait. Nous avons été très bien accueillis dans une ambiance familiale. Le gîte est décoré de manière traditionnelle et le paysage magnifique. Même les glaçons étaient prêts à notre arrivée.
We were very well welcomed in a family mood. The place is decorated in a traditional style and the landscape is beautiful. Even the ice cubes were ready when we arrived.

Parfait !

Charming
We so enjoyed our travels to La Varache. From the patio of the gites, the view of the beautiful valley is serene and relaxing. There are many walking paths with spectacular views of the valley and from the tops of the hills you can see for miles. There are several places of interest to visit around the area. The owners were very welcoming and hospitable. The gites were clean and comfortable with all the amenities of home. Our stay at La Varache was rejuvenating and we will stay again soon!

About the neighbourhood
The local village of Eymoutiers has a produce market every Saturday (as well as 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month) where you can wander by the many stalls to purchase a variety of delicious local cheeses and homegrown produce. Don't worry about parking. Eymoutiers hasn't yet heard of pay car parks or meters!
In the east of the Haute Vienne, Eymoutiers sits next to the river Vienne. Once a town of hide-tanners, many of the houses retain the original tanning lofts. The Romaesque church of St Etienne, the impressive Mairie and the Libary are just some examples of the beautiful architecture of the town and of this region.
Eymoutiers is well placed for all kinds of recreation. Just 15 minutes’ drive north east of the town is lac de Vassivière, which offers water sports, beaches and swimming. For those who enjoy walking, the Monédières which stretch across the countryside just south east of Eymoutiers, are the ideal destination. There are also a number of marked trails locally of between 9km and 15km.
If you are looking for some shopping or a bit of the city life, Limoges is only a 30-minute drive from La Varache. This ancient roman cathedral city, which is famous for its porcelain, offers plenty of activities including several historical sites.

Directions To La Varache
Directions:
From the A20 (Limoges) you take exit 35 (Direction Eymoutiers/Lac de Vassiviere) which becomes the D979. You follow this route for about 35 kms towards Eymoutiers. Before Eymoutiers there is a little village called La Veytisou. Once you have passed through this village you will take your first left. It is signposted the C13 to La Foret. Follow this route and keep to your right towards La Foret. At La Foret you take the first main road to your right.(It is a very sharp turning on the corner of a house). This is the D129.
