We had a great time at the Firehouse Cottages!!! We were in cottage #4 (3 bedroom). The cottage was on the water and had its own dock. The dock could use some metal rings installed to tie boats up more securely. Not every cottage has its own dock (cottage 3 and 5 did not have one). There was a fridge, stove, microwave and coffee maker in the kitchen. There are not many dishes so bring your own plates and cutlery. There are some pots and pans and a few cooking utensils. We had our own BBQ, fire pit and there was plenty of outdoor seating. The lake is really clean and the swimming was great! The cottage itself was small, basic, nothing fancy but did the job. One bedroom has no lights or electric outlets - we called it the "Off-The-Grid" room.
The only complaints we would have (and it's king of a big one for me) are that the cottage has a rodent problem that needs to be addressed. I understand that we are up north, but we saw several mice in the cottage, there was feces all over the countertops every morning despite putting everything away in Rubbermaid bins and in the fridge. They were pretty active through the nights. We did not leave food out anywhere. There are also 3 raccoons that live underneath the cottage. They come to visit every night and they are very persistent. FYI the raccoons will approach you while sitting at the fire pit!
The other issue is that the sliding door from the cottage to the deck needs repair. The door can barely open. You need to use your full body weight to pull the door open and closed, it's ridiculous. The flooring and plywood inside the sliding door are very water damaged and the flooring is lifting up. The soggy wood floor may be the cause of the door not being able to open with ease.
