Quiet, cozy, inspiring, art-filled cabin: fivespot is a relaxing place for a week or weekend. Awesome Kings Canyon is an hour from the sequoias - a jaw-dropping ride down one of the USA's deepest canyons. Visit us in this lesser-known part of the Sierras. Find yourselves alone on the delightful trails and get back to fivespot for more peace and quiet. Or head on down to the Pinehurst Lodge (a 3-minute walk from fivespot) for a drink and dinner. It's a great alternative to the crowded Yosemite experience. More

We loved staying at Fivespot Cabin! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed with all the careful details. Beautiful fresh lilies scented the room, gracing the kitchen table. The kitchen was loaded with every tool we could want, as well as many dry food items in the cupboards (including some tea choices!) The decor was artistic and every nook and cranny had something different to admire. We loved the hardwood floors, wood walls, and comfy furniture. The bathroom was my favorite! It offered a separate shower and bath (with a clawfoot tub!) and walled off toilet area (with an in-the-wall bookshelf next to it). An epson salt soak in the clawfoot after hiking was a perfect way to end the day. The front porch had a rocker to sit and read in, and the back patio had plenty of comfy seating to use while you barbecue. The bed was comfortable and the linens soft. We would recommend this spot, and we would stay there again.

Location was perfect for easy access to sequoia and kings canyon national parks. Peaceful stay with too many special features to mention. The artistic touches put it over the top! We found ourselves wishing we had made reservations for longer (only 2 nights since 1 of several stops on our trip)... Hope to make it back sometime for a longer stay!

There is a reason this cabin has overwhelmingly five star/excellent reviews. I can’t really add much more to what people have commented on already. Sauna, patio, outdoor shower, no TV, amenities, surroundings, bar and locals, outside/inside everything was great. This is a fantastic all around place to stay. I could not recommend or endorse it any more. It is a must do if in the area. LOVED IT!

My family of 4 just stayed here for 3 nights at this cabin and we loved it. The owners of this cabin are very nice, accommodating people. The cabin itself is quaint and comfortable, very clean and sleeps 4-5 people easily. You can cook/grill each night. We brought our own food for breakfast and lunches. The cabin is off of CA 245 and it'll take you 40 min as you turn onto dry creek drive. You are easily 15 min up the mountain to 180 and another 10-12 min to Generals Hwy (most trails we hiked were off this road). For example, we went to Crystal Cave and it was 1:40 min away. This cabin was nicely located away from all of the major traffic getting into the park. I can say the only issue people may have is the mountain driving. It's very slow with all of the winding roads and uphill climbs. You are actively driving and it's not easy. You have to be focused and that is difficult because of the beautiful scenery. If you are looking for a great place to stay away from the park lodges then this is the best place to be. I would return in a heartbeat.

Homely, quaint, quirky, peaceful, relaxing and eclectic nik-naks all make Five Spot an absolute delight. If you fancy sitting outside having breakfast while humming birds drink nectar from feeders, or if watching the Milky Way in the dark skies appeals, then book to stay here. There is everything you need for self catering, except a TV, but who needs a TV when there's so much to do outside? The cabin is about 20 mins from Sequoia National Park, where we spent four wonderful days exploring and walking. We saw beautiful waterfalls, rivers, and meadows. The giant cedar trees were breathtaking! If you enjoy wildlife we saw: frogs, ground squirrels, chipmunks, deer, many bird breeds, a snake, a tarantula, a skunk...oh and a bear!! I loved Five Spot and Mahalia made sure we had settled in okay and was genuinely concerned that we had everything we needed for an unforgettable stay.

Well equipped kitchen, clear directions and instructions, and fast responses from the owner for any concerns. Very pretty garden; clearly a lot of loving care has been lavished on the house. A smooth and pleasant experience!

We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. The fireplace and sauna were enough to keep us cozy and warm in the winter and the lodge next door was a nice option for "getting out" at night for anyone feeling a little restless. There were plenty of games, books and other activities to keep you busy on a cold evening and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and supplies so we enjoyed cooking and wine after snowshoeing by day. Oh, I should also mention that they had snow shoes for us to use as well. I highly recommend this charming getaway. We hope to return soon!

About the neighbourhood
Few vacation cabins are as close to Kings Canyon National Park as Fivespot Cabin. A 15-minute drive to its entrance will bring you to the feet of giant sequoias, and an hour more will take you to the bottom of the breathtaking canyon itself. From there discover prime hiking trails, waterfalls, caves and meadows - all without the crowds of Yosemite. Fivespot is located in the heart of the tiny settlement known as Pinehurst. Once a thriving logging community, it is now a sleepy rural retreat. Fortunately for visitors and locals, historic Pinehurst Lodge is open year-round. A family-friendly restaurant and bar, 'the Lodge' (as the locals call it) is a short walk from fivespot and was once a sawmill. Known for its Saturday night Prime Rib special, it's also got a pool table, a jukebox, a de...
