Quiet, cozy, inspiring, art-filled cabin: fivespot is a relaxing place for a week or weekend. Just 15 minutes from the entrance to Sequoia Kings Canyon National Parks, it's perfect for couples or small families. After a satisfying journey to see the spectacular sequoia trees, or experiencing rugged Kings Canyon, come back to fivespot and have a cookout, relax on the covered patio, and enjoy the sauna and outdoor shower. Feeling creative? Add something to the chalkboard wall, or stroll to the hilltop behind the cabin and sketch the surrounding foothills. Awesome Kings Canyon is an hour from the sequoias - a jaw-dropping ride down one of the USA's deepest canyons. Visit us in this lesser-known part of the Sierras. Find yourselves alone on the delightful trails and get back to fivespot for more peace and quiet. Or head on down to the Pinehurst Lodge (a 3-minute walk from fivespot) for a drink and dinner. It's a great alternative to the crowded Yosemite experience. More

We loved staying here. Near to the King's Canyon park entrance in a pretty, peaceful location. Very good accommodation, open plan lounge/kitchen etc. but it's the porch, back patio and garden that makes the place. Relaxing after a day's exploring with a cold beer and watching numerous humming birds come and go is rather special. We would recommend staying here for anyone who wants a few days in the mountains.

Fivespot cabin felt so much like a real home . It has been furnished and decorated with real love and care so unlike many rental properties. The kitchen is very well equipped (a coffee maker and a cafetiere for example) and all we could ever need to prepare meals which is our preference in a rental property. The bathroom was luxurious and also beautifully tiled and decorated. The outside sitting area meant we could watch humming birds on the feeder and walk up the back field for extensive views across woodland to hills in the distance. At night we went back out and sat in the chairs at the top of the field and watched shooting stars in a chrystal clear night sky. This was a wonderful, cosy place and we wished we had stayed longer.

It's down a winding road, about 20 minutes to the entrance to Kings Canyon, within walking distance of a lovely creek and small waterfall. Delightful place to read, meditate... We so enjoyed sitting out back in the wildflower meadow, under a tree at twilight with the bees and butterflies, drinking wine and laughing. Loved the sauna, although do read the instruction manual on the coffee table first. I did have to hit the reset button, and it didn't go off after 15 minutes. Very nice bathroom. My friends loved the soaking tub. Lovely back patio and front porch, with fresh flowers everywhere. Loved all the native plants, especially the bright gold fremontia. Spectacular! Rather dark though - brighter bulbs and bedside reading lights are needed. Major pet peeve for me. The kitchen has lots of spices, teas, etc., but I think some of the spices are old and need to be replaced. Bring your own if something is important. The kitchen chalkboard wall is a fun feature. We drew General Sherman, the tree we came to see. When visiting the General, take time to walk the 2 mile Congress trail loop. We had it all to ourselves, and saw a marmot and many amazing trees.

Fivespot is everything a little cabin should be--cozy, functional, beautiful and tucked away. Mahalia was very easy to work with and included so many thoughtful details--candied ginger in the cabinet to ward off carsickness on the windy roads and a fireplace with logs ready to go, just to name a couple. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quite mountain retreat.

About the neighbourhood
Few vacation cabins are as close to Kings Canyon National Park as Fivespot Cabin. A 15-minute drive to its entrance will bring you to the feet of giant sequoias, and an hour more will take you to the bottom of the breathtaking canyon itself. From there discover prime hiking trails, waterfalls, caves and meadows - all without the crowds of Yosemite. Fivespot is located in the heart of the tiny settlement known as Pinehurst. Once a thriving logging community, it is now a sleepy rural retreat. Fortunately for visitors and locals, historic Pinehurst Lodge is open year-round. A family-friendly restaurant and bar, 'the Lodge' (as the locals call it) is a short walk from fivespot and was once a sawmill. Known for its Saturday night Prime Rib special, it's also got a pool table, a jukebox, a de...
