About the neighbourhood
Moffat is an attractive spa town and has been popular as a holiday resort since the 17th Century. The town nestles within the southern upland hills and the local area is recognised as being of outstanding natural beauty. Moffat has excellent local shops, hotels and restaurants.
Getting around
There are two nature reserves close by on the edge of Moffat. Whilst horse riding, quad biking and golf are all available locally, as is the popular 7 Stanes trails offering world class mountain biking. Rod hire is available in the town, and there are three fishing ponds at the local Hammerlands Centre, which also has an adventure play park, animal farm and garden centre.

The historic cities of Edinburgh and Carlisle, and the cosmopolitan Glasgow, are all easily reached within an hour. The castles and abbeys in the Scottish Borders are easily accessed within 30 minutes, as is Dumfries and Galloway with its dramatic coastline, unspoilt villages and home produce. Shop 1/2 mile, pub and restaurant 1/4 mile.
