However we have found that some people prefer to let themselves in so now its entirely up to you. We will gladly be there- or not. Just let us know your preference. We do come regularly to service the hot tub but we are discreet and you will probably not see us. If you need us we are available throughout your stay- just e mail. Easter break
We had an amazing few days at Foxes Reach, gorgeous cottage tucked away. The cottage was quiet, extremely well equipped with an added extra of the hot tub after long days walking. The Mill is Tintern was amazing and had amazing gluten free options and puddings.

Peaceful break away!
Such a lovely place to stay, the fresh flowers and welcome treats were a great surprise and truly felt welcoming. Great area to stay and some lovely walks from the doorstep. The hot tub was amazing and added that extra bit of relaxation to the break! 10/10 would recommend and return.

Spectacular - Highly Recommended to recharge the batteries!
Having used luxury cottages up and down the country with the leading operators, I must say Foxes Reach truly blows the others away, and I would highly recommend a visit. It's fair to say that Foxes Reach excels in every part of the customer journey, from the extensive "Welcome App" followed by a courtesy email upon arrival, immaculate accommodation in a stunning location, thoughtful extras like the tea towels and dishwasher tablets, pristine bedding and towels, regular H&S checks of the hot tub and the genuine warmth of the owners Fiona and Malcolm, whom leave you alone in privacy should you wish. The experience offered truly is a pandora box, tranquillity unequalled in location, with second to none facilities. A place for everyone to relax, especially stressed out youngish professionals! The owners truly want you to have the best experience possible, and they evidently go that extra mile to make sure everything is just right. Competitors take note, this is hospitality at it's very best.

Not 5* as advertised
Great location for walks, utter peace and quiet in the evenings, cottage disappointing. Bathroom shower tray blocked with a hair ball size of a mini golf ball the smell was awful. Cobwebs and dust living, kitchen and shower room. Kitchen crockery, pans and utensils disgusting, obviously not being checked between new guest arrivals. Air source central heating useless, no control other than thermostats all other controls under lock and key. Owners going into cottage when guest aren’t there and there every day if your using hot tub, no privacy whatsoever. Paid over £1600 for little comfort and boring lengthly email after we returned home completely in denial of the muck we decided to clean rather than be pestered by a couple of busy body cranks. Absolutely not the 5* thats advertised. Bore off

How to answer this? This review was rather amazing to us as we met and chatted pleasantly to these guests while swopping linen for their second week and none of this was mentioned . The one genuine issue was the heating as a part failed in week two but they were provided with plug in heaters and free woodburner fuel till it was professionally fixed 2 days later. Nonsense about the thermostats as every radiator in every room has a thermostatic valve for guest use . The guests only saw the central control because of the professional fix and have misunderstood that it is set not to a max temp but to a MINIMUM temperature so everyone is always warm unless they use the valves to reduce the heat in a room. On arrival there had been an unusual request for special scales to weigh the dogs food. We provided these and new batteries for them within the hour and as the guests were then out placed them on the table just inside the kitchen door.We didn’t even need to step inside and it was the one and only time we entered the property. We thought this was helpful since they had requested the scales .There was no complaint ( or thanks) when we saw the guests while taking the linen, but after the stay vitriolic e mails stated we should have left them in the garden as somehow meeting the special request for dog food scales had invaded privacy. Certainly the hot tub would have to be checked daily if in use, this is a standard safety measure everywhere, however these guests had told us they would not require it so it was not in use and we were therefore not attending to it at all let alone as stated. The rest of this is also impossible to believe as surely if correct would have been raised when they arrived and asked for the scales rather than sending a torrent of new complaints and abusive messages weeks afterwards. We always want people to love their stay and come again but…..

Lovely Cottage
The cottage was very clean, owner helpful too. Hot tub lovely and seeing the horse next door in the field was lovely. Well equipped in that it was lovely to have a washing machine and drier for laundry. We realised we were a set of towels short but did not worry as we had bought plenty anyway. A very quiet and relaxing area, ideal with the WiFi as well. All our phones on various networks had no signal and drained quickly due to them constantly searching, however there is an option there for use of a home phone but this was not needed. Unfortunately the local Dr was needed, Tintern surgery was excellent. A cosy quiet cottage that was spotless, highly recommended. Thank you for a lovely stay.

One of the best dog friendly cottages we've stayed in.
6 weeks have passed since our holiday at Foxes Reach and the fact I'm writing this review (I nearly always read them but rarely write them), is testament of what a fabulous holiday we had. We went with our 2 year old Welsh Springer Spaniel and found really great walks straight from the front door of the cottage. There were also more testing walks only a short drive away including Offa's Dyke and Symonds Yat where the ancient woodlands are spectacular. We were very lucky with the weather so we were able to take advantage of the very private, peaceful and escape proof garden (essential for Flynn alias Houdini) and the thoughtful inclusion of sunbeds meant that after strenuous walks each morning we were able to relax and enjoy a siesta each afternoon!! Foxes Reach is most definitely a cottage we intend returning to.

absolutely fantastic cottage!
We stayed here for a week back in May 2016 for our anniversary, Sorry for the late review Malcolm and Fiona! We had the most amazing stay at this wonderfully well equipped cottage. Care and attention has been taken with this beautiful cottage and you can really see that the owners really do indeed love it. Amazing facilities! Home comforts and more is all I can say on that front! This is a 5 star property for sure! There were lots of information sheets which we found ever so helpful. Malcolm met us and showed us round - thank you! Wonderfully friendly man with a wealth of knowledge of the area. Would we stay here again?? without a doubt we would. Thank you!

Lovely dog friendly holiday cottage
We spent two weeks in this lovely cottage with our two dogs. We enjoyed the whole experience and could not fault anything. The owners are very attentive, the cottage is extremely well equipped and very comfortable, and the hot tub is very relaxing even in December!

A really lovely cottage, absolutely delighted with it
We went to Foxes Reach for my parents Golden Wedding anniversary and I am happy to say that we all loved it and they thoroughly enjoyed their weekend there. The cottage is lovely with everything you could want for a comfortable stay. I would not hesitate to recommend it and would go back if we were in the area again.

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is located in a quiet residential hamlet called Catbrook approx 2 miles by road on the hill above Tintern Village and Tintern Abbey in the spectacularly lovely Wye Valley. It is not isolated but the setting is private. You can walk with your dog from the doorstep on lanes or into protected woodland- beautiful all year. There are many well waymarked trails. The location is very convenient. We are under half an hour by car from Motorway links M50/M5/M6 and from M48/M4 so therefore accessible all year. There is absolutely masses to do and see.
