Magic Sand is a new 2 bedroom 2 bath home directly on a Pink Sand Beach. It has a 1 bedroom efficiency apartment attached which is rented only if there is a need for a third bedroom. Magic Sand has 126 feet of very private beach with it's own Tiki Hut. Magic Sand is fully equipped with everything that you need to have a wonderful vacation. You only need to bring a few cloths and swim suit ! Beds: 1 King Bed, 2 Queen Beds, 1 Sofa Bed, 1 Crib

We will stay there again!

Magic Sands is located about 20 miles south of Governor's Harbor Airport; right on the water. The house is well appointed with every beach amenity you could ask for. The breezes are wonderful. I had the best nights' sleep EVER! We rented an SUV from Sue, the house manager for $75/day. You will need a car. The hosts, Hugh and Margie, are the best ever. When you go, be sure and visit Island Farm. Every Tuesday and Friday you can get a lot of home made items and you can get fresh vegetables every day but Sunday. Sunset Inn and Da Perk are great local restaurants in the Town of Governor's Harbor. And if you are there on a Friday night go to Fish Fry. So much fun.

As if you have an island to yourself

We had a lovely stay at the Magic Sands Villa on the beach at Double Bay, Eleuthera Bahamas. When staying here, as in most of Eleuthera I would guess, you'll get the true feel of what the Caribbean was like before tourism. This may not be for everyone as the island is very quiet with very few people everywhere, even when you drive to "town". But to really get away from it all, this is the place to be. Booking went smooth with flawless communication with Hugh, the owner. The house was clean and spacious. It has all the amenities you'd expect these days. Wifi was good enough for some messages and emails but don't expect to stream a movie on Eleuthera. We asked about wifi at some fairly expensive resorts where we went for dinner and there it didn't even work. "It's the island" they told us. Nonetheless at the Magic Sands villa we did have connection, be it a bit slow at times. But if you're there, just stay off the internet. There are so many nicer things to do. Explore the island. It's beautiful everywhere. The colors of the water and beaches are out of this world. You'll most likely have the beach for yourself all day. We could walk an hour in either direction and an hour back again and not see anyone else. Snorkeling is great just in front of the house. Most of Double Bay has some rocks with coral on it, if you swim out just a bit from the white sand at the beach. And it's just a few minutes' drive to the other side of the island where the rocks on the left of Ten Bay are great for snorkeling as well. We tried some random other beaches to go snorkeling and most were good really. We were especially glad booked this house on the "windy" side of the island. The breeze was warm and lovely, and it makes you don't get all sweaty. And most important : the breeze keeps the insects away. We could easily sit outside and hardly had any bugs. One tip : The supermarket in Rock Sound is fairly large and has just about everything. The two local ones at Governors Harbour may be a bit of a challenge to find certain things, so early in your stay it may be a good idea to drive to Rock Sound to stock up, after that the local ones will likely do.

Danny: Thank you for your honest review of Magic Sand and Eleuthera. This is true about Rock Sound Supermarket and I will add this to the info that I send to guests so that they have advance knowledge of it. As always, Safe Traveling and hope you see Magic Sand again in your future.

Pristine beaches, Caribbean paradise

Spent a wonderful week in Eleuthera at Magic Sand vacation rental. Seamless from the start- Hugh (the owner) gave good instructions and we rented a car from his contact. She met us at the airport, and all went well from there. Driving took a conscious effort initially, but quickly became second nature. The house was very comfortable and well outfitted. We were happy we had stayed on the Atlantic side, as there were terrific ocean breezes. We had no problems with mosquitos or no see-ums during our stay. The Double Bay Beach was private and very pretty. During low tide, there were many rocks and tide pools to explore for treasures, as well as a nice beach to walk. We found Magic Sand to be at a good spot on the island, allowing us to explore the Northern, Southern and Central parts of the Island. The island is stunningly beautiful- a treat to the senses. We enjoyed trying to find remote beaches (SUV necessary) and trying local cuisine. We bought fresh grouper at Tarpum Bay dock, and cooked at our rental. The house is equipped with spices, pots and pans, a grill outside, and all we needed. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the porch deck and in the Tiki covered deck with a glass of wine in the evening, or our breakfast in the morning. The house had comfortable beds, good water pressure in the showers, and a large flat screen in the living room. Many dvd and cds were available, as well as books for most genres. The wifi is iffy- and seemed to be better in the evenings. We enjoyed frozen daiquiris and conch salad at Leo Rose after searching for sea glass at James Cistern beach (awesome finds). Tried Tippy's which was fun but pricey, and The Buccaneer. Grocery stores were adequate- we did buy produce at Island Farms, and found someone selling stone crabs- delish! Residents were friendly and helpful. We have only positive things to say about this trip and rental. Would return in an instant!

constant sea breeze

Amazing house right on the beach with a constant gentle breeze.House was well equipped.Owner is a pleasure to deal with.We were the only ones on the beach.

Beautiful beach but...

We have stayed in several houses through the years in Eleuthera and have found a common thread in some of them:whether there's a property manager or not no one fixes anything.At Magic Sands there is a property manager but I think she's really only the maid.Our bedroom doors never opened,only the front door could lock,there were a lot of missing screens so bugs,moths,no seeums got in.It said in the paper left for people to open doors+windows+let the breeze in instead of using air conditioning but in our bedroom+one of the living room doors that was impossible.It would hake it hot+buggy in the summer. The cell phone wasn't activated and my cell phone couldn't call out. My husband changed burned out ceiling lights and figured out the DVD player didn't work because there were no batteries.When I emailed the owner he put it back on me that I "should have called the property manager before I arrived to have her show me the house,etc"Also he said to relax and that in 8 years no one had ever complained.Not true if you read the guest book.I felt left on my own and not welcomed to this house. I am a former travel agent and I know what myself and others would expect if we're paying good money to rent a place.I loved the back deck with the jungle of palm trees-a great place to see the sunset.The Tiki Hut was also nice.I wouldn't come back here tho' until things were fixed

Go to all the rental sites and read ALL the reviews and you decide just how terrible our house is. You can't please everyone.
