A lovely relaxing weekend.

Beautifully decorated, well equipped and comfortable cottage. Everything we needed was there - though some coat hooks for wet jackets would have been useful. 10 minutes walk to the beach and although it is in the shadow of the power station the beach was fantastic....More

About the neighbourhood
Gileston is a very small hamlet near St Athan and Llantwit Major. Llantwit Major is itself a historic town offering many shops, fine restaurants and pubs. It also has a beach popular with walkers and surfers. There are a host of lovely restaurants, but what we love doing best is going for a nice meal and a pint of real cider in the historic Plough and Harrow in Monknash. Failing that the wonderful thatched Blue Anchor pub in East Aberthaw serves fabulous bar meals and a great choice of real ales. You musn't miss a trip to Cowbridge - plenty of ways to spend a few hard earned pennies, whether on tapas, shoes or antiques.
