200 year old cottage set in the heart of beautiful village. This former weaver's cottage has a large open fire for cosy, romantic evenings and a generous amount of logs is provided for your stay. There's a well equipped kitchen: gas cooker with eye level grill, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, larder fridge and a good selection of cooking equipment. The pantry has a full size freezer. The sitting and dining room has Sky TV (basic package), a large selection of books and games, local information, a CD player and free WiFi. We've a travel cot, a comfortable chair bed for an older child and a high chair.
It's a short stroll to the pub, coffee shop, general stores, village hall, church and play park. Also within walking distance is the start of several signposted walks, fishing on the river Girvan plus road and off-road...

About the neighbourhood
The picturesque village of Straiton is set in beautiful countryside along side the Water of Girvan. There are great walks, many signposted, and miles of cycle tracks in the Galloway Forest Park. Living in the village is like stepping back in time and we have a strong community spirit. Activities in the local Hall such a whist drives, badminton and carpet bowls are usually well supported with visitors made to feel welcome. Our local shop is community-run with some part time paid staff and a team of volunteers, it is surprisingly well- stocked with fresh bread baked on the premises daily.
The Buck coffee shop is very popular with locals and visitors alike and the Black Bull hotel opens in the evenings for delicious meals and refreshments.
