Quiet location, away from the other tourists. Private pool for the family to enjoy. Large open plan kitchen/dinning room with big fridge/freezer. Free round trip transportation, And a friendly 'Aunty' who you could call on if you needed any other help.
It is about 10-15mmin drive from anywhere: the beaches, the supermarket, etc (the airport a little longer), which is great if you wanted a little peace, but close enough not that have to waste too much time getting to and fro.
We even had a local elephant and rider walk past the house.
Just 1min walk away is a 'local' restaurant, if you can call it that, but you can pick up cheap chicken/beef rice or noodles if you wanted (they weren't bad).
Don't rely on the small stores about 5 min walk away, on the main road, for anything but the simpler items.
The private pool was perfect for our 7 year old (good swimmer), our 1.5 year old and 3 year old needed to be watched but it was fantastic for them to be able to jump straight in after breakfast, rather than production need if staying a resort/hotel.
The pool isn't a lap pool but great for the kids to play around in, and it has a little bench/seat for the smaller kids to stand on, but it does have a very deep end. The pool man comes twice a week to clean it.
gas stove top with 2 elements, microwave, toaster and kettle/jug. Had the essential cookware needed for a family for dinning. Coffee, tea, salt and sugar, but it would have been better if it also had a few more food items especially if you arrived later in the evening, (such as cooking oil, a few eggs, milk etc)
The beds were fine, bathrooms attached, nice showers. A safe is provided (with keys available if you (or your kids) lock it accidently). Air conditioners and ceiling fans. The rooms are dark, so no creak of dawn wake ups.
2 scooters are available, but with a family with 3 kids we choose to take the free round trips option, where a driver (Aunty Ree) would collect us from the house and take us anywhere we wanted, and when we needed to be picked up we would call her and in 10min she would be there. Pick ups should be done before 5pm or a fee might be charged, otherwise just take a local taxi. (remember to take a map and name of the Villa with you)
(our first trip to the supermarket Aunty Ree helped us get a 'sim' card that we could use to call her on, they tend to use the free app 'Line' and not 'Whatsapp' which would also do the trick)
If you plan to take a day trip to the islands, just pay for a private water taxi, yes this cost a lot more but you wont be rushed on and off others islands.
