Bed Bugs!
My family stayed at the Plantation House for over 2 weeks this month.
During our time there we stayed in both the Martinique and Antigua units. For the first week things were generally fine in Martinuque (although my son did find a cockroach here and there), we liked the unit and decided to stick it out.
Francois, the host, was generally pleasant, but the big downside was that the first night we moved to the second unit "Antigua" the bed bugs came out and bit my family to bits! (I am happy to share pictures)
The bites were really bad so we called the host, Francois. When we asked Francois about the bed bugs, she told us, "having some bugs in the unit is part of visiting Mexico". We asked if we could leave the Plantation House that same day as I was not comfortable with my family living with bed bugs and informed her that they were very nasty creatures and hard to get rid of. She informed me that she was not feeling well and would address my issue "later". After not hearing from her for 5 hrs I checked in, saying that we would like to leave on good terms. She wrote back saying, "I told you I am sick".
My husband and I decided we would leave Plantation House and stay down the street at a nicer hotel. We kindly informed her of this, she did not reply. The next day we text Francois and asked for a refund for the days we would not be staying there. She responded by saying she could provide a "partial refund, "because you promised to stay longer". It was not until we threatened legal action that she gave us a refund and it was still not the full amount. We decided to cut our loses and move on :(
I debated on writing this review, but thought it was the right thing to warn other travelers. I do hope they improve, the location is nice.
