About our neighborhood: We are in the middle of Playacar Fase 1, which is a very safe, gated, beach front neighborhood at the south end of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is divided into two phases. We live in Phase 1, which is very small and private in comparison to Phase 2. It is mostly single family houses except for one other condominium and one hotel, both of which are at the entrance to our neighborhood. We are about a 10 minute walk along the beach to 5th Avenue, locally known as La Quinta. There you will find hundreds of restaurants. ( Trip Advisor lists over 650! ) They serve everything from tacos or ceviche to French cuisine. The atmospheres range from sand-in-your-toes to high-end, fine dining, and you can spend as little or as much as you want. If you sit at one of the outdoor restaurants, you may be treated to live music by the strolling Mariachis.Want to: Sky Dive Zip Line Parasail Fish Snorkel Scuba Dive Swim, Snorkel or Dive the Cenotes Ride a Horse on the Beach Tour the Jungle on an ATV Tour the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, Coba or Chichen Itza?. Very happy with our rental unit, Penny returns email very promptly, Fisherman Resort everything as advertised , beach and sand amazing. Very convenient to 5 Ave, many great food options on .5 th.

Great access to the beach
The studio was wonderful again. This is our 2nd time in the complex. The first time (Feb 2016) we stayed in 333S, which has a balcony. This studio 333W, does not have a balcony but otherwise it is the same. In someways we preferred it since it does have screens on almost all the windows, except one, and from the bed you have a gorgeous view of the ocean. It is also on the backside so it is a bit quieter.
Last year we went in February, which is definitely the quieter time to visit vs. over Christmas and New Year. This time Fisherman did have music playing on the beach (though it was not loud compared to other hotels) and also did do a water class at noon in the pool and some type of dance lesson in the afternoon. Yet, even when fully booked, the hotel is small and not like the big resorts.
We rented bikes for the week and loved riding our bikes into town. Quinta avenue was a zoo due to all the holiday travelers. We were glad we could retreat back to our studio and the beach away from the booming clubs and music in town. Perfect if you want to be right on the beach and a bit away from the center noise.

Great location for awesome beach vacation!
We were so impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of staff at Sunset Fishermen's and especially a huge thank you to Sergio. He was wonderful! The facilities were obviously cared for with pride - everything was clean and properly looked after. Having the pool, lounge, chairs, restaurant and beach all in such close proximity was truly delightful. Leisurely strolls to 5th Ave were possible every evening. Would definitely return to this lovely place next time we are in the area.

Great studio! Great Location! Great Stay!
We had such a great time staying here! Our room was perfect and had an ocean view. Another studio with balcony was also available. Bathroom was beautiful and bed was comfortable. Accomodation could not have been better! Sergio met us at front entry and was friendly and helpful. Also met owners Doug and Penny who were so friendly and welcoming. Pool was beautiful and lots of ocean front seating as well. Met lots of friendly folks too. No ocean front or poolside drink service but bar including swin up bar in pool close by. Gym facilities were good. Did not eat at restaurant except for one breakfast but other guests seemed to like it. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing Getaway!
We had a great vacation in Playa, and the room provided by Doug and Penny had an amazing view of the ocean! Both Doug and Penny were easy to get a hold of before, during, and after our vacation. They make you feel like you are staying at a vacation spot of a close relative. One of the highlights of this vacation spot is the amazing personalized service we received from Sergio - the concierge of the room where we stayed. He also became a great friend! We saw him everyday we were there, which made it very convenient to let him know if we needed anything. He was also available to take us around Playa for whatever we needed. Also - here's a great tip: Sergio was able to take us to Xplor for much less than what the travel sites offered. My wife became sick due to eating tacos on the street - and guess who was there to help us get her to a doctor?! It was Sergio! He really put an unmatchable personalized touch on our vacation. We would recommend this room for the view, but even more so for that 'home away from home' feeling you get from Doug, Penny, and Sergio. We really can't thank Sergio enough for being there for us as much as he was for us. Thank you Sergio for making our vacation so special!!

Paradise in Playacar
We stayed in this Playacar beach condo in early May and it was absolutely amazing! Clean, cool, cute and convenient. My daughter and another friend were with me - my daughter and I stayed in the queen bed and our friend took the comfortable pull-out sofa bed. It was great to have a fridge - we didn't use the hotplate but made several salad-type meals and had fruit and yogurt each morning - we were grateful to have dishes and the like available.
The beach in front of the condo is the nicest in Playa and the sunbeds and umbrellas were wonderful. Food from the resort was surprisingly reasonable and really delicious. We enjoyed walking to Starbucks (10 or so minutes) each morning and to town each evening. My husband and I have traveled to Playa del Carmen each winter for the past 13 years - this condo is truly a gem and really excellent value. I'd recommend staying here in a heartbeat!

Peaceful getaway
Everything about this trip was great. The room was big with big beautiful mirrors. Nice size bathroom. It's an easy 10-15 min walk to the downtown shops. The beach area was just for the hotel and very relaxing. But a 5 min walk down the beach are all the water activities so share, and are fairly priced. I would stay here again. Beautiful and serene.

A great place to say, family friendly, very clean, great amenities and ON the beach! Great place to stay, close to Laquinta (the Strip) and very friendly people. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

It was the most Serene, Peaceful, and Relaxing experience I have had
This place is beautiful and serene. I sit at my computer and look out at the ocean and find peace and joy. This place is spotless. It is a very comfortable, beautiful place to stay. I have everything that I need in my condo. Mr. Cutler put a lot of thought and care into this place. This place is amazing to stay in. The living area is a good size. There is a beautiful wooden closet with mirrors. The kitchen area has everything you need. The floors are beautiful tiled floors. The Bathroom has a large tiled shower. The counter tops in the kitchen area and bathroom are top of the line. He has thought of everything that someone would need. Everyone has been wonderful and kind to me. I will be back again in a few months. The pool area is beautiful, The restaurant has great food and the price is very good. The staff here are very friendly. The Spa area has a nice gym looking over the ocean. Vicki is gives a wonderful Hot Stone Message. It was very reasonably priced. The beach area is spotless. They have cabanas you can use at no cost. You can use Kayaks. I cannot say enough about my condo and this place. It is Magical and Amazing.

Enjoyed our stay very much!
We stayed at the resort in May and despite having rain every day, we had plenty of time to spend by the ocean and the pool. Everything is well maintained and clean, and I am very picky in terms of cleanliness. The site is quiet and that what was we were looking for. We were a bit sceptic since the resort is only at 15 minutes, by foot, from Playa del Carmen. Which in itself was a great advantage since we did not need a vehicle to go downtown. The walk to Playa del Carmen was pleasant, on a private road with lovely private residences.
We felt safe and the service was nice.
The restaurant on site: we did not use (except for one lunch). It was a bit expensive and because we prefered eating in our condo the food we had purchased at a local grocery in Playa del Carmen before we headed for the resort, thanks to Sergio a charming local resident who picked us up at the airport. He was very helpful.
Tomatoes were sooooo good.
The beach is very nice. It was the second best beach we had seen in Mexico. We had been to other resorts where the beach had a lot of rocks and was painful to the feet to walk on and in the water. Not at this beach: beautiful!!!
And for excursions: walk 15 minutes to a rendez-vous spot at Plaza Antigua and save 1½ hour of bus ride! (We took an excursion to Cozumel - the island - for the day)
I would definitely recommend this resort for a nice resting vacation.
