Casa Vela has become one of my favorite places to stay when I travel Cancun and I look forward to returning! The staff was friendly and was always one step ahead! Beautiful location, right on the water and the privacy was a nice touch as well! Can't wait to come back!!

We just returned from a wonderful trip to the Playa Del Carmen area. We wanted to find a place where our boys could run and play and we could relax and enjoy the downtime. And boy did we find it! Casa Vela is truly a treasure. It is so well maintained and the staff is so helpful. It was such a wonderful trip. Everyone in the family enjoyed it. The rooms are all very large and nicely appointed. The open air main living space is one of a kind. The grounds and the property are maintained daily by the wonderful staff. I would 100% recommend the chef. It makes the trip next level. We ended up only eating lunch out twice. It was so nice to not have to fight any crowds in restaurants or have to take tired kids out to eat. The food was fantastic. She was able to accommodate a couple tough food allergies. It is worth every penny! And actually I think we saved money by going with the chef. You will not be disappointed. We definitely plan to go back.

Casa Vela was an absolute blast. It is a perfect, private vacation for our trip with friends. It would be great for family vacations as well. The service and food provided by the chefs was top notch. The large palapa was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view of the sea. Definitely plan on coming back!

We stayed at Casa Vela for a week, and it wasn't long enough. This is a private, stand-out property, tucked along various hotels. People would actually stop and take pictures as they were walking by. To enter, you go through a nondescript brown gate and as it swings open, your experience starts. The "road" down to it is cut through a lush jungle that is partially dirt and transitions to a wooden path where we were met with a golf cart to go the rest of the way. A couple of times, members of our group jokingly commented, "Welcome to Fantasy Island". The house itself is timeless, beautifully built and well laid out. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and serve meals for large groups (we chose to do it ourselves) and the deck is inviting a provides more than enough seating. Under the property, there is an abundance of hammocks and reclilners. Not to mention, several kayaks, paddle boards and a small sailboat. So much fun. We saw a lot of local wildlife, as the property backs up to the tropical jungle. On a side note, spider monkeys are really cute, but they won't hesitate to come steal your food if you leave it out...! We rented a car and did some sightseeing, including hiking the excavated Ek Balam and then swimming at the cenote on the property.

This is a very special place, right on the beach, amid the jungle, with nothing but the sound of wind and waves. A golfcart ride through Jurrasic Park takes you down a wooden road to the four bedroom house in which each room feels enormous and is special in it’s own way, with a unique exposure different from all the rest. The bathrooms are beautiful. There’s a large luxury tub and beautiful showers. The palapa open living space is absolutely amazing, and the chef’s kitchen is large and extremely well appointed. It immediate feels like home, but exotic and remote at the same time. There is an outdoor shower, a laser sailboat, and paddleboards for use by guests, and a large number of luxury beach chairs. You can kiteboard or windsurf right off of the beach front, and leave your gear rigged for your entire stay, with a luxury house to hang out in between sessions, a far cry from rigging gear out of the back of your car. The “locals” are fun too, coati, agouti, deer, and we think we saw a tapir. Don’t leave food out, or the fearless spider monkey family will take over your kitchen! There are beautiful jungle adventures and short walk away, and the restaurants in Playa del Carmen are simply fabulous. We highly recommend Rocha’s Jerk Chicken Jamaican restaurant, and Schnitzel Garten for homemade German food, two unexpected gems in this beautiful and vibrant Mexican town. There is a lot of live music in town, and the clubs go off (not that we went in one). Sure, you can go to an all inclusive in Cancun, or hang with the hipsters in Tulum, but you’re not going to find the beautiful chill experience you’ll enjoy at Casa Vela.

We had a wonderful time with our family at casa vela. Everything was absolutely perfect :)! The amazingly beautiful house is in a wonderful shape and Really clean. And the nature around the house is stunning. Communication with the really friendly and helpful property manager Alberto was also perfect.. he is so helpful and friendly. The ladies that came to cook for us quite a few times (which Alberto organizes) were amazing, delicious food and great margaritas . We will definitely come back soon :).

Spent about a week with 3 families including 2 children. The rent includes full time security person, cooks for 3 meals a day. The place is very clean and right on the beach. The bedrooms are air conditioned and very nice. The only downside of bedrooms was the lighting was sparse. All of the common areas are under roof but open to the outside. There is no TV in the common area, but we were able to watch TV in any of the bedrooms. We did not see that as a negative. The living areas are on a level above the beach with limited access from the beach. The house is located between two hotels so the beach-side activities are available. The house has extensive beach “toys” such as paddle boards. The pool is above ground and we did not use it. The water was too cold and it was not heated. The is a great river that feeds into the ocean about 10 minute walk which we used for swimming. Very clear, clean and suitable for swimming. The outstanding feature of this property is the service we received by the staff. They were exemplary!
