Cottage
Hannaford's Quay is a luxury two bedroom waterside cottage situated in the centre of Topsham on Hannaford's quayside only ten feet from the waterside. The cottage faces South West with marvellous views over the estuary and is within a five minute walk of shops, cafes, bars and all amenities in the town including: restaurants, bar, shops, antiques market, outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling green, railway station, and ferries. There are marvelous walks and cycle paths nearby, including the newly opened estuary cycle path to Exmouth, with its beaches and the start of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The estuary is famous for its migratory birds particularly during the winter, many of which can be spotted from the comfort of the cottage balcony.

My family and I have visited Topsham every year since I was born as my Great Auntie lived there (im now 32!). When she passed away our happy place we always like to escape too became difficult to visit due to expense or the amount of us going. When we came across Hannafords Quay we knew it was perfect. We had spoken to the housekeeper who passed on all the keys etc and to say we were impressed when we accessed the property would be an understatement. It has everything you'd need. A real home from home. Clean and tidy and in a wonderful location overlooking the estuary. The house is well equipped and there wasn't a single moment that I thought, oh it could have done with XYZ it was just very well thought out. The owners had left us some flowers, a bottle of fizz and some essentials in the fridge for when we arrived, a lovely touch. We were able to sit on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine and look up at the stars, and in the morning watch the mist list from the water. Just gorgeous. There are lots of walks around the local area, a good selection of places to eat, playground nearby, open air swimming pool, crabbing on your doorstep with the kids, boat rides down the estuary or across to the turf pub its wonderful. Youre not far from driving out to various places for the day, Crealy adventure park, donkey sanctuary, various beaches or fun days out. We took our own bikes but there is bike hire in Topsham, so you can cycle about if you'd like. We were very happy with our stay and 2020 has been so horrendous with covid we have booked for 2021 in the hope we can look forward to staying again and relaxing with our family. It does state about parking for one small car but i drive an estate and was able to park it (if youre not a confident driver i wouldn't attempt it) the parking in Topsham can be challenging at times but we always get sorted in the end. Cant wait to visit again!

Topsham is a really great place, full of interesting things to do, and places to go, and this house is a perfect base. One thing to note is that it has parking on site, which is important in Topsham

We stayed at this lovely house for the last week in September. It offers really spacious and well equipped accommodation over three floors with a lovely west facing balcony off the first floor lounge. The location is ideal and very close to Topsham's very good restaurants and inns. It is also very good for getting into Exeter and using the Exe trail- in fact we never needed to use the car once-making use of the local train service. Would recommend Dart's Farm, the Exe trail and both Le Petite Maison and The Galley. Exter also has some great eateries on Cathedral Green. The house has off road parking for one car and we made a lot of use of the balcony as the weather was excellent. A lovely stay!

What a delightful clean, well equipped and charming three storey cottage. Balcony views from the second stage, allowed sublime views of sunsets over the River Exe and oppositie foreshore and stunning countryside. Parking was a tight fit but essential remedy to popular Topsham's parking restrictions. Cannot fault this as a superb winter venue. Warm, friendly and great place to cook in. Loved the sizeable family kitchen table, bird watching telescope and stylish lounge area. Rave rave rave. Thanks again. We will be back.

Lovely house overlooking the estuary with top of the range furnishings including comfy beds and sofa bed. Great views over the water to distant hills. Teenagers enjoyed the jacuzzi bath, also easy access to Exeter for shopping and the beach by train. Good traffic free cycle route on the doorstep and bike hire too. Topsham is a lovely small town with individual shops, good restaurants, especially the Italian and an outdoor swimming pool. I would definitely recommend

The location is perfect, overlooking the Exe, close to pubs, restaurants and shops, buses and trains. Yet far enough away from traffic noise across the bridge. In fact we travelled by train and you do not need a car to enjoy this area. The house is beautifully furnished and equipped. Balcony from lounge means you really don't want to go anywhere when the weather is good.

There was plenty to do in the area. There are great restaurants and lovely walks around Topsham. Altogether I would thoroughly recommend Hannaford's Quay for a pleasant break.

About the neighbourhood
Topsham town, as its name suggests is the topmost town on the Exe estuary and was originally the commercial port for Exeter with strong connections with the Netherlands, which is reflected in some of its architecture. The town is now predominantly a pleasure sailing port, famous for its many pubs and restaurants, and an antiques centre, all within easy walking distance of Hannford's Quay. There are many facilities in the town: bowling green, during the summer a heated outdoor swimming pool (open early mornings for ‘The Nutters Club), tennis courts, a recreational ground with children's playground and skateboard park. There are numerous other activities to pursue, virtually on the doorstep: walking (there is a new traffic free cycle path that follows the estuary from Exmouth, through T...
