On a quiet weekday you're as likely to see a horse outside as a car, but you still have the security of being in a village with people around. It's a very safe friendly village, off the beaten track, but everything Rutland and Stamford have to offer are within easy travelling distance. !!NOT SUITABLE!! for children between mobile babies and age 8 for safety reasons. Babes in Arms and children age 8 plus welcome. It is a (still) relatively undiscovered gem, a unique and delightful place to base yourself when visiting England's smallest county. Discover Oakham have said about The Chapel: 'Had an amazing weekend stay in this beautiful property in Wing. Will definitely return and recommend'. This property is open plan design – the only internal walls being around the Bathroom! Check-in any day of the week. Check in is at 3.00pm, but may be available earlier on the day so if you're already in the area we'll let you know if it's ready early. Check out is by 10.00, but we can often offer a later checkout. This property is ENTIRELY OPEN PLAN in design – the only internal walls being around the Bathroom! Parking on unrestricted Village Road immediately outside. It has never been a problem in six years, but if it is, the owners are happy to make space available for one car on their driveway nextdoor. Award winning Architect designed conversion of a Methodist Chapel, which was a place of worship for 150 years until being converted to a home in 2000 when it featured in 'LIVING ETC. MAGAZINE'. It has been available to rent as a holiday home since late 2015. The sympathetic modern conversion retains the original features such as the double height ceiling and arched windows meaning the space is very light and airy, perfect for a relaxing break. At Ground Floor the Living / Kitchen / Dining Areas. An ‘L’ shaped sofa provides ample space for you to relax with freeview smart TV & blu-ray player to keep you entertained and a wood burning stove to add to the heat and the ambience of your stay. The main heating is provided by eco radiators. There is also a ceiling fan for hotter days. The Kitchen area has a 4 plate electric hob together with both fan and conventional ovens, a large fridge/freezer, plenty of utensils, cutlery, saucepans, frying pan, and oven dishes. The Dining Area has a table and chairs to seat four comfortably. There is ample crockery, cutlery and glassware. A full inventory is emailed prior to your arrival so you are aware of what to expect from the kitchen contents. This is only to ensure that you do not duplicate any items by bringing them from home uneccessarily to hopefully help to reduce your luggage. At the Mezzanine level there are two Bedroom areas and a Bathroom. The two Bed areas have glass balustrade viewing to the Living Area below. The Master Bedroom area has a king size bed and side boards with shelving below and reading lamps above. This area is provided with a DAB radio alarm clock and a waste bin. Relaxing
Had a really relaxing weekend in the Chapel. Found it very clean and comfortable Impressed with everything that is provided to make the stay perfect. Appreciated all the extras. It's located in a lovely quiet village with a good pub a short walk away. We enjoyed visiting Rutland Water nature reserves and nearby Oakham and Uppingham and Stamford. Would definitely love to stay here again when visiting the area. Thanks to Colin and Samantha

Glorious stay - perfect for exploring Rutland Water
We stayed in The Chapel for a long weekend during the hottest weekend of the year, it was perfect! Wing is a great location for exploring Rutland Water, with the two nature reserves less than 10 minutes drive away and easy access to the circular cycling route from Manton (where you can park your car for free). The Chapel was perfect for our needs, we do a lot of cottage breaks in the UK and this was by far the most well stocked cottage we have visited (both in terms of appliances/kitchen items and guides for the local area and further afield). There were just two of us, so there was ample space. We loved sitting out on the front porch in the evenings enjoying the sunset (and trying to keep cool!) and made full use of the On Demand services on the TV. The Cottage was easy to find, we could park right outside and using the key safe and bike store was very straightforward. The only slight negative was that we did get very hot over night (but it was 30+ degrees outside). We didn't want to leave the windows open as they are big sash windows, and couldn't seem to get the ceiling fan to work.... Hopefully if we're in the area again we will stay in the Chapel. Thanks!

A lovely relaxing stay.
We rented the Chapel at Wing for a weekend and had a really lovely time. It was beautifully clean with lots of personal touches that made us feel welcome. It is well-laid out, modern, yet retains the personality of the original building. I would highly recommend this accomodation if you want a quiet, relaxing time in a home from home.

Perfect place to stay
We have just returned from The Chapel after having spent a month there. The Chapel was immaculate, very comfortable and everything in it worked. We loved the quirky open plan layout, it was exactly as described on the website but probably felt even more spacious than I expected. As we were staying for so long, we needed a fair amount of storage space and were delighted with the fitted wardrobes upstairs, we had plenty of storage. Colin could not have been more helpful, especially with supplying more logs when we needed them as well as providing us with local information. We had no problems at all with The Chapel during our stay but I am sure that if any problem had arisen Colin would have done whatever he could to resolve it. He took the trouble to check with us during our stay to make sure everything was OK. There was plenty of information about the surrounding area in the house and you could tell that a lot of thought had gone in to making our stay as comfortable as possible. It was a real luxury to have the bed changed and the cottage cleaned every week while we were out. It was also a real advantage that the local pub, The King's Arms at the end of the road, was also so good. The food there was fantastic and very welcoming. We were really pleased that we decided to stay in the very friendly village of Wing and at this cottage, I don't think we could have chosen better. Despite the time of year, the month flew by (lots of country walks, plenty of places to visit and things to do) and we were amazed that our time to leave had come around so fast. Thank you Colin, we loved The Chapel.

Hi David, We are sorry you found The Chapel disappointing however, the property description does state quite clearly within the listing "..This property is open plan design – the only internal walls being around the Bathroom!.." and we feel that we have demonstrated this very clearly in the photographs provided. We are not sure what more we can do to make guests more aware of the internal arrangement of the property? Any suggestions would be welcome. We hope your next holiday let is more suited to your requirements.

About the neighbourhood
Beautiful rural historic part of the English countryside. Traditionally a 'playground' for visiting royalty this ensured the preservation of the rural character of the smallest county. More recently predominantly farming , with lovely countryside perfect for walks, cycle rides and getting close to nature. R.Water is internationally famous for it's birdlife and the two beautiful nature reserves on it's shores.Ospreys are now well established here and return to the Water each year, but the number of species of birdlife now at R. Water is immense. Despite an increase in visitor numbers recently Rutland retains an Olde World charm and laid back character. Much in Little is the County motto and there is too much enjoy and explore.
Getting around
It's preferable to have a car as Wing is a small village with only a limited bus service. Many local Taxi firms available. It's possible to walk to Rutland Water, if you are fairly fit, but it is a climb to return as Wing is on a hill overlooking The Chater Valley. By car it's about 5 mins to the nearest point on Rutland Water or 20 mins or so to the opposite shore. Nearby Shaws Coaches run outings all over the UK. Trains run from Oakham, 10 mins away by road, or Kettering, which is about half an hour by road.
