Cottage
This lovely brick and flint cottage is one of a terrace of three cottages, on a quiet country lane at the mid-point between the four villages of Great Walsingham, Wighton, Binham and Hindringham. It looks onto rolling fields in all directions and has a beautiful large wild garden of about half an acre, full of flowers. You cannot beat it for a rural retreat, about ten minutes' drive from the North Norfolk coast, with its glorious beaches. Downstairs is a newly-fitted kitchen, with electric twin oven, microwave, induction hob and dishwasher, and a separate pantry with fridge and freezer. The kitchen is open to the dining-room, which has a working fireplace and gives onto a paved south-facing terrace, with a table and benches for outdoor meals, all looking across the fields. Next to the dining room is a spacious sitting room with a new TV (can play Catch-up TV) and DVD player, wood-burning stove and i-pod dock. Upstairs is a large bedroom with a superking-sized bed, a twin bedroom and a single bedroom. The two double bedrooms have incredible views over the fields behind the cottage, while the single bedroom looks out on the front garden. All the beds have electric blankets. The bathroom has a walk-in shower as well as a bath. The brick outhouse behind the cottage has a garden room with a second fridge and a washing machine, as well as a wet-room which provides a useful second loo as well as another shower (great for washing children straight from the beach or muddy dogs). The cottage is very much a family home and is furnished as such: it has a personal feel to it, and a stay here will feel like going to a friend's house. There are family paintings on the walls, and some of the furniture is antique, as are the Turkish kilims, but some things are more shabby. There is wifi, and pets are welcome by arrangement, but no smoking inside the cottage please. Bed linen and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels. Firewood will be provided for visitors staying between October and April.

Delightful cottage in a peaceful location
This lovely flint cottage feels like home from home. The owners helpfully left comprehensive information regarding the local area in addition to the cottage information. This place is as lovely on the inside as it is on the out, being well furnished and cosy including incredibly comfortable beds. Lovely art work adorn the walls in every room , you have the sense you are staying at a friends with good taste, rather than a rental property. It is very well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, two fridges , two ovens, electric blanket and wood for the wood burner in the lounge, which were all put to good use. We loved having a roaring fire to warm us up after spending the day out under the big Norfolk skies . If you like complete peace and quiet and getting away from it all , this cottage is ideal . If you stay here, there is no need to travel far to enjoy the area, only a few minutes to local shops, pubs, restaurants and the coast. This holiday was definitely the rare exception of the cottage being as lovely as the area I was visiting . I hope to return in the summer to enjoy the lovely garden which backs onto open fields and perhaps get a glimpse of the local Barn Owl , who remained elusive this time.

It's such a pleasure to welcome guests who feel this is like home from home. I'm sorry you missed seeing Barnaby the Owl though - he is a very frequent visitor in the early mornings!

Delightful end of terrace cottage in the sticks but near everything
Henrietta organised our family of four stay brilliantly. Instructions and directions all good. The cottage had everything we needed and was really charmingly decorated, a real home from home. Would happily return in the summer as we barely got to explore the area. So many lovely (enormous) beaches in the area and so many gorgeous coastal villages to mess about it.

Great place to stay
The cottage itself was great for a family of five - all amenities and a really homely and welcoming feel. We had enough space and didn't really want for anything. Henrietta was very organised with helpful information, and (very kindly) surprise Easter surprises when we arrived. We found the location perfect - easy access to the coast by car or for mini cycle tours, and local amenities a mile or two away. We really enjoyed our week here, and would definitely return.

Perfect for Christmas
I can only agree with previous visitors that this is as good as holiday cottages come. It was spacious, warm and comfortable with everything we needed and far more besides, not just the standard five of everything normally found in a holiday cottage. We felt as if we were staying in a friend's house with the wonderful pictures and furniture that were obviously much-loved family possessions adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Henrietta went out of her way to ensure we enjoyed Christmas with beautiful decorations throughout the house and garden, and was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. She was particularly kind to let us take our dogs and they did appreciate the bonios on arrival, thank you!

Exceptional cottage in beautiful location
I don't think we've ever stayed in such a lovely cottage. It is spacious, comfortable and full of interesting artwork which made it feel much nicer than most holiday accommodation. Lovely views, extremely comfortable beds, a very pretty garden at the front and the back, wood burning stove, plenty of space to eat, cook and relax. It has been furnished with great care and we felt comfortable and well looked after. Henrietta was a pleasure to deal with. We would go back in an instant. It is also in a beautiful part of Norfolk with easy access to lots of great walks, bird watching opportunities not to mention restaurants and pubs. We felt very fortunate to have stayed here. Highly recommended

A gem amongst the North Norfolk lanes
Nestling amongst the numerous quiet country lanes in North Norfolk, 1 Field House Cottages is both an idyllic cottage and an excellent location to explore the beautiful villages, and coastal area of Norfolk. Internally, the cottage is extremely welcoming, very comfortable and especially well equipped with everything one might need provided by the generous owner. Externally the grounds and garden again have been carefully prepared and provide a very quiet and secluded place to enjoy. In our limited time we were unable to frequent the local restaurants and pubs but we're immensely impressed by the many fantastic farm shops, cafes and tea rooms we encountered on our cycling tours.

Beautiful Haven
We have just returned from a fantastic break with the family. The cottage is truly idyllic and filled with character. Every room is decorated with quality furniture and original paintings. The location is perfect to explore all the lovely North Norfolk towns and beaches in the area. Henrietta couldn't have been more helpful as a host, and they were really accommodating letting us bring both our dogs. We would definitely book this cottage again. Thank you!!

Great house, wonderful location!
What a wonderful house, clean, comfortable with beautiful artwork on the walls...our children picked a favourite painting every day...one could imagine every artefact has a story behind it! The garden is terrific and the views are lovely. The whole place has a very relaxing feel to it and a perfect place to get away from it all. The location is very good, great base for exploring the North Norfolk coast, particularly the spectacular beach at Wells next the Sea. We had a great week and hope to visit again.

It is so rewarding when our visitors appreciate the paintings and other objects we have collected in the cottage - because we know that everyone has different taste in these things! You are right that there is a story behind most of them. (Some of the paintings are by my great-grandfather, some by my father, some by my brother and some by me... among other artists, known and unknown!) So glad that you all had a good time and I hope we can welcome you on another occasion.

Idyllic cottage in idyllic countryside setting
A delightful cottage, equally functional and comfortable, of intriguing interest in its paintings and furniture, and superbly converted, in keeping with the original style but with all modern facilities Set in idyllic country surroundings, far from busy roads, with its own garden, in a sea of wild flowers, and overlooking glorious rolling countryside this is a perfect family or group getaway. There is a shop and pub within reasonable reach. The cottage is an excellent base from which to explore the nearby magnificent N Norfolk coastline, as well as all other local attractions, and can easily be used for a larger group by also taking the next door cottage, no 3. We took both cottages as the base for ourselves and extended family attending our son’s local wedding; the sheer delight of the accommodation added significantly to our memories of a wonderful week. Henrietta made everything so easy. This is an idyllic base for the country lover wanting to explore the glories of North Norfolk

An idyllic place to stay
We have been holidaying in North Norfolk for over 20 years and this is our favourite place. Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful location and very comfortable and beautifully furnished spacious cottage. The gardens are wonderful and it is close to all our favourite beaches and walks : Sheringham, Holkham, Fellbrigg to name but a few It was such a tonic and we have returned feeling revived after a busy year's teaching in London! It was also really nice that my brother rented the cottage next door at the same time so cousins could spend time together - just perfect, thank you.

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is in an exceptionally beautiful spot, sited at the midpoint between the four villages of Great Walsingham, Hindringham, Binham and Wighton, in a row of four labourers' cottages on a small lane. The views to the back across the rolling hills and water meadows are just stunning. The nearest pub is under 2 miles away in Binham, which also has a good shop and petrol. Two miles in the other direction is Little Walsingham with its excellent restaurant, the Norfolk Riddle, and wonderful farm shop
