This former stonemason's workshop has been beautifully renovated into a light and airy bolthole for two and a perfect base for exploring all of the beautiful countryside and coast of North Yorkshire. Mason's Cottage was originally owned by a family of stonemasons who worked on the local churches, houses and schools including Ampleforth Abbey. Ampleforth has existed as a village since Saxon times and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The property has been reconstructed so well with great attention to detail and care. We were so comfortable. So often "the bed" leaves much to be desired, but this large double was excellent. A short but very enjoyable stay. You won't be disappointed. Can't wait to return. There are so many interesting places to reach from this location.

Great snug cottage in a great location. The local pub/restaurant The White Swan is fantastic, service, atmosphere and food amazing. Great consideration from the staff with regard to PPE. The issue we had with the cottage was getting the car in and out of the drive up an incline and at an angle. We were expected to be considerate to the neighbours with regard to parking but it didnt work from the neighbours side!!
