Be wary booking this cottage
I booked this cottage in the spring of 2021 for our new year break unfortunately for me the owner took another booking later in the year from someone else for the new year break ( double booking) he dumped me 6 days before we were due to arrive.

Beautiful quaint cottage in the picturesque village of Mells.
The quaint thatched cottage in Mells is perfectly located for visiting the nearby towns and villages of Frome, Wells and Brunton - you also have within an hour’s drive the cities of Bath and Bristol and not too far away the Dorset coast. The owners Rob and Maggie are lovely hosts and have lots of good advice about where to visit and eating out. If you are visiting the Bath’s Roman baths, check out visiting just before dusk as it’s an amazing atmosphere. Lovely cottage for a couple whether you want to stay local (Mells walled garden cottage cafe is a must) - or if you prefer to stay local - Rob has an amazing collection of books to read in the study! We would highly recommend and hope to return in the future. Ann Marie Dunne and Eamonn O’Rourke

Not very impressed with tripadvisor
Firstly I had to cancel this holiday because of coved 19 after paying £170 deposit but I canceled just before the official lockdown because the balancing payment was due and I knew at this stage we would not be able to go on this holiday so I've had no refund from my deposit and the last time I spoke to the owner of this cottage he hadn't received any payment from tripadvisor from my deposit either so at this stage after several attempts at contacting TA I am not impressed with them and now to add more insult TA have just emailed me to see if I enjoyed my holiday

Lovely cottage the hosts have thought of everything.
It is a great village to have as a base with a lovely pub. Easy access to popular places in Somerset like Bath and Glastonbury. Very well equipped cottage which was clean and comfortable.

Stimmungsvolles Cottage in einer ruhigen Straße. Zuvorkommende Gastgeber.

Loved it
Good location, convenient for Frome. A very quiet street. Cottage well equipped and homely. Bed comfortable. Plenty of hot water. I was there during a cold spell and my only criticism is that the bedroom was cold, but the owners were very helpful and brought an electric heater up for me which kept the chill off nicely- in fact they even provided me with a brand new hot water bottle and an extra bed cover!.

Wonderful and cozy English cottage
You will be beyond impressed, with the amazing surroundings of this beautiful, roomy, yet cozy English cottage. This is a quaint, unspoiled by hoards of tourists, wonderful little village; perfect for a peaceful vacation. Located in the quietest street in Mells, I thought I was in heaven! The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, with essential appliances like a microwave ( and the fridge was stocked with essentials to get me started; such as eggs, ham, milk, bread, jam and butter. Thank you Rob and Maggie! ) a small dining room, bathroom with available clothes washer ( no dryer, but there's a nifty collapsable, clothes hanging device in your bedroom, that warms up and dries your clothes. No kidding; it really worked! ) The cozy bedroom is located upstairs; there's a nice flat screen tv, sofa and dresser ( no closet available, but there's a large clothes hanging rack with plenty hangers ) and there's even a nice hair dryer available. The bed was super comfortable, with soft pillows, and crisp white linens. I slept wonderfully! You can approximately 10 minutes to the Village Market, Coffee Shop and Post Office, all conveniently housed in the same quaint building. Even closer to the cottage is a wonderful Inn, The Talbot Inn, known for their delicious food, though I did not have opportunity to eat there; I opted for home cooked meals instead. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my hosts, Rob and Maggie; they were always willing and available during my stay, to answer any questions. I had the most wonderful time staying here; you are truly in the heart of the English countryside, so I will recommend renting a car, if you don't already have your own. You are a mere two miles away from the closest town of Frome, and there's a bus that runs through Mells every two hours during weekdays only, to take you there; no service on the weekends. A true fact; Mells has its very own Earl of Oxford and Asquith, living at his amazing Manor House, a mere walk down the street from the cottage. What is there not to love about this place? I highly recommend a stay at this amazing cottage. I plan to return in the not so distant future.

A great location in a peaceful village.
We were looking for a quiet few days away. I saw the cottage, checked out the accommodation and it had everything provided. Rob and Maggie have a beautiful cottage. They provided where to eat as well as places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to one and all. A 10/10 in all areas. Many thanks to Rob and Maggie.

Lovely Cottage in Beautiful Village
My wife and I spent a week at this lovely cottage and used it as a base for visiting local places of interest. The cottage itself was absolutely charming and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Owners Rob and Maggie (who live next door) went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed when we first arrived and made it clear that they were always available if necessary. The village of Mells is a rural gem and was everything we wanted. One pub, one shop (and P.O.) and a couple of small cafes. The local pub (The Talbot) was a short stroll away and offered a warm welcome and serves excellent food and drink (and comes highly recommended by The Sunday Times). We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Mells and would highly recommend this cottage.

Perfect Weekend in Beautiful Thatched Cottage
We loved every minute of our weekend break in Mells. The cottage is ideal with a kitchen, bathroom and dining room in the library (all downstairs) and then there is a large bedroom with a sofa and TV upstairs, which overlooks the small lane. It is in a perfect location, as its only a short walk from the Talbot Inn, which is now one of our favourite restaurants. Frome is a short drive away and if you can, try to go on the first Sunday of the month, when the Independent Market fills the streets and car parks. Rob and Maggie, the owners, live next door and are the perfect hosts. We are already planning our next visit and would recommend this beautiful cottage to friends and family.
