Owner will make you feel like an inconvenience and you will enter a truly dirty / neglected lodge
Rude owner that made us feel unwelcome through two unfriendly comments! Further more to our disappointment the lodge was not only unhygienic but also unsafe in the time of a global virus and we have compiled a list to specify key things that should be part of a mandatory checklist under the owners responsibility: dirty food stained and rusty sauce pans and cutlery dead rat at the end of driveway noticed on arrival and still not removed on departure! owners aggressive dogs made it difficult to leave the lodge as stated on site working WiFi however we were unable to connect throughout our stay yellow/ brown stained bath tub jets not working in bath tub blood spot on bedroom pillow case large burnt food stain on rayburner dirty stained glasses cob webs everywhere broken plug sockets old broken fountain unlike site pictures when fully functional one working battery between three tv remotes untrimmed hedges around hot tub causing debris in the water unstable bar on hot tub unable to move unusable barbeque due to time consuming amount of debris needing to be burnt off no privacy to and from hot tub whilst in swimwear with young children present! one and a half amount of loo roll that ran out unpleasant smell of diesel from outdoor tank unbelievably hot kitchen/ lounge area due to instructions from the guest book that the rayburner should not be altered No curtesy check to see if everything was ok with the accommodation and no possible contact with owner Photographic time stamped evidence of all the above We left the lodge one night early from a two night stay as we did not feel comfortable or welcome to stay Despite emailing the owner when we returned home, we gave her the respect of dealing with the matter privately before our review however, she took no responsibility for her lack of hospitality and hygiene and simply passed the blame. It is now over a week later and despite our efforts we have received no apology or compensation This place should not be advertised

Perfect holiday
My daughter (aged 9) and I recently returned from a horse riding package holiday and stayed at the cottage. The cottage is ideally situated across the yard and so the owners who are lovely people are around if needed. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the countryside, with Cotswold villages being within easy reach by car. The riding was great, the horses/ponies had wonderful temperaments and with Caroline (the owner) leading the hacks we had a fantastic time. The cottage has a hot tub outside which we used on a couple of occasions, easy to use and relaxing after riding.

Lovely cottage let down by the hot tub
The cottage itself is lovely and full of character. Inside it was well kitted out with good basic kitchen supplies including a fresh bottle of milk in the fridge. The Aga is a bit tricky to work out but we mostly ate out so didnt really bother us. As a family of 3 it accomodated us fine, with a double bed in the master and bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom. Unfortunately we felt the property was let down by the hot-tub, as this was one of the features we booked it for. Firstly, although the hot tub is in a private patio area, to access it you have to go out of the front door, along a short path at the front of the cottage and through a side gate. The property faces a working horse riding school, so it's hardly ideal to have to scuttle out in your towel whilst a group of riders ambles past. Secondly, although the rear aspect looks out over fields, the cottage is actually located on a national speed limit road which seems to be the main thoroughfare between the local villages. As a result there is fairly frequent traffic passing at high speed. The patio area enclosing the hot tub is in the part of the property that ajoins the road (about 10 feet from it), so it's not that relaxing when a lorry goes thundering by. Lastly, because the property ajoins the riding school, if the wind blows in the wrong direction there is a noticeable whiff of animals and manure. This attracts a lot of tiny flies and bugs, which we were forever having to fish out of the tub. Again, somewhat detracting from the relaxation... If you're not bothered about the hot tub or traffic noise, then this is a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting, but if you want a relaxing soak then I would suggest looking elsewhere.

A delightful cottage brimming with equal measures of character and charm
We enjoyed a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. The property is full of character and felt very homely with its warmth and sympathetic decoration. We particularly enjoyed the luxury of the hot tub which was a real treat after long cold days exploring nearby attractions like Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford upon Avon. All in all we had a glorious time and would stay here again without hesitation.

Hi - Thank you for your review. This is the first year the outside hot tub has been available during the colder months so we're pleased to hear it is popular! John and Caroline

Fabulous place and wonderful people
A home from home - but much nicer! I stayed with my partner, 6 year old daughter and 12 year old son. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and things we didn't expect to be provided too. It was clean, very comfortable and spacious. The kids slept in the bunkbeds but it was good to know there was the option of another sofabed in the conservatory if we had needed it. It was quiet and peaceful even though the stables were literally across the courtyard. The kids really enjoyed their riding lesson so this was a fantastic facility to have right on the doorstep. The hot tub was a godsend. After all the travellng around sight-seeing, at the end of each day it was a great way to wind down and relax before bed. We had great holiday and this accommodation contributed massively to that.
