South Beach Retreat is excellently located directly across the street from the provincial park. It is a short walk to the beach. Other amenities such as stores and restaurants are within walking distance, but are a bit of a hike. The area is quiet at night and not too busy during the day. You get a peek-a-boo view of the lake from the front deck, which has a dining table and a nice seating area complete with a firepit and drapes to block the late afternoon sun.
The house itself is in good condition and was very clean. The kitchen upstairs is well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. We didn't use the downstairs kitchen. The BBQ is off the kitchen and is a full size, good quality unit (this is important to me!). The bedrooms are attractive and well furnished. Being at the back of the house, they are very quiet. The blackout drapes are a welcome touch. I never did figure out the AC, but it isn't necessary, opening the windows in the bedrooms at night provides a nice cool breeze. The living room and dining area is generous. While it was just my wife and I for this trip, you could easily accommodate a larger family. We didn't use the downstairs other than the laundry, but it is of similar quality to the rest of the house.
The garbage setup is a bit confusing, it took a while to figure out where the recycling was to go and what was supposed to happen with the garbage when we left. We put everything in the appropriate containers and left it, I hope this was right.
Overall, a great spot to spend a week and I would recommend South Beach Retreat to anyone looking for a family vacation at Christina Lake.
