It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales. Town: The village of Hollington is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086 and is a scattered village consisting of traditional brick built cottages, farmhouses and barn conversions. Surrounded by glorious rolling countryside and farmland the village is steeped in history and makes a lovely peaceful base for a holiday. Nearby is the quintessentially English market town of Ashbourne with its cobbled streets, coaching inns and old market stalls. Ashbourne has a variety of shops and restaurants and is a delight for antique collectors. Outdoor pursuits are well catered for with many walking and cycling trails close to the area, including the Dove and Manifold valleys. For the young, and young at heart Alton Towers theme park offers thrills for the whole family to enjoy.More
