Cottage
Freshly decorated with feature wallpaper, soft furnishings of velvet drapes and blinds bring a warm cosy feel. The views from the front windows are of the front lawns, beyond a copse of trees with the steeple of the nearby 14th century medieval church of St Mary's. A little bit of paradise and a quiet spot for someone wanting to get away from it all but close enough to the city and transport links. Fully fitted kitchen with washing machine/dryer, fridge freezer, microwave with matching 'bluebell' crockery. A quaint holiday cottage set next to the main house which together sits in just over two acres. It benefits from its own private garden, patio furniture and BBQ, bordered by tall fir trees and an apple orchard at the bottom. The dry stone wall is made from ancient flag stones, we think from the remains of the Benedictine Abbey opposite. On the back of one, the chisel marks of the original mason are clear to see. Do ask to have a look! Set in a protected 'Conservation Area', the garden is visited by many types of birds: woodpeckers, skylarks, pheasants, robins, blue-tits and local pheasants. The bird song has been described as 'God's music' it is so special!. Country Walks: rural countryside is a short walk, with a public footpath opposite the pub going westwards on the 'Port Way' for dreaming spires of Cambridge or take 'Wimpole Way' eastwards to the bluebell wood. Transport: A cycle route along the St Neots Road, down the Madingley Hill, via Coton connects directly into Cambridge. Regular bus service: 'Citi 4' at the Hardwick Turn or the 'Whippet' at the end of the drive. Throughout the county there is an abundance of historic houses, each with beautiful gardens. Cambridgeshire's unspoilt countryside is ripe for exploring.(N.B. £50 deposit, returnable at the end of the stay following inspection). Very comfortable, well-equipped and organised kitchen, lovely garden area. Pub, well-stocked shop & PO in the village. Sainsbury Superstore 4 miles away in Eddington Avenue, close to Park & Ride for central Cambridge. Would thoroughly recommend.
