Comfy beds, amazing decor, great area in the city close to shops and lovely owners. We used this place as somewhere to play a D&D session for the castle ambience and architecture. We had a great time and highly recommend.

60th birthday celebrations
My 3 friends and I received a very warm welcome from Barbara and Andrew when we arrived. They showed us around their beautiful cottage and gave us a quick run down of where things were and how they worked. Douglas Cottage is absolutely beautiful, spotlessy clean and very well equipped. The cottage is also really central, making it easy to walk to the local bars, shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend Douglas Cottage to family and friends 😊

Lovely cottage
Stayed at Douglas Cottage for a couple of nights. It's a beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need included. Fantastic central location, could walk everywhere, permits provided for on street parking right outside (although on the morning we left, the traffic warden almost gave us a ticket as he said we couldn't just keep adding on extra hours!) Would definitely recommend and return another time. Goodies provided are a lovely touch too.

Thank you!
We enjoyed a long weekend stay at quirky Douglas Cottage, which is spotlessly clean, with super-comfy beds and all the equipment and amenities you need. Andrew and Barbara are warm and incredibly helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

A Fantastic House
Douglas House is a superb Victorian terraced property with outstanding facilities, very close to Chester city centre. We spent a fantastic week here in April 2022 and really enjoyed it. The house is beautifully decorated and maintained and is perfect if you want to stay in Chester - as it is at the top of Foregate Street and literally a 2 minute walk into the main shopping area of the city. The owners left us a wonderful breakfast welcome hamper which was a great start to the week. On street parking is available right outside, although it does operate on a permit scheme. Andrew and Barbara had some left for us to use as April was a pretty quiet month for them, so this was amazing. But bear in mind they won't always be able to guarantee this as the council limits the number they can have per month! The house has some of the comfiest beds we have ever slept in. There is a beautiful park nearby with hungry and very friendly squirrels to feed. And all in all we couldn't recommend Douglas Cottage enough. It's fab.

A truly enjoyable stay in a unique and charming cottage. The location is ideal being in the centre of Chester
We booked a four night stay with our grandchildren during the February half term. On arrival we were met by Andrew and Barbara who took time to show us round the property and explain how everything worked. This was really helpful. The interior of the cottage lived up to our expectations based on the photographs we had seen. It was exceptionally well appointed and very clean. The grandchildren loved having their own ensuite bathroom on the second floor. The centre of Chester was a five minute walk away and we were kept busy for the whole time we were there even though it was the week before half term and some attractions had not yet opened for the season. Well recommended and certainly worth a visit.

Smartest and cleanest holiday cottage ever!
Perfect location, two minutes from the High Street and also 2 minutes from the Grosvenor Gardens, but very quiet. The house is immaculate and spotless. The furnishings are elegant but also cosy. Kitchen is modern with every amenity. Bedrooms beautiful and comfortable with luxury bedding and many interesting and quirky objects. The hosts are super-welcoming and accommodating. Possibly not suitable for young children (too many things to damage!), for everyone else a great place to stay.

Fabulous Cottage
After our Spanish holiday was cancelled we had to find somewhere for my sisters birthday. Douglas Cottage was available and at a reasonable price, so booked. The communication with Barbara was very good before we arrived. On arrival we were met and they went through everything we needed to know about the cottage. Having stayed in many houses it was extremely good to see that Douglas cottage was very clean and exceptionally well kitted out. We had taken washing up liquid bin bags plus plus plus. But we needed nothing. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked a few meals as well as eating out. Brilliant week and the cottage was fabulous. Beds are also very comfortable. Bluebell is a fab tapas bar and Peckforton Castle was great for Sunday lunch, although 30 mins away.

Stayed at Douglas Cottage in November 2019. Absolutely perfect property. The owners greeted us and showed us around the property and this helped us settle in quickly. Spotlessly clean with everything you need (and everything you didn’t think you’d need!) from a self catering property in the heart of the city. Highly recommended!
