Lovely house but accessibility can be a challenge
The house is beautiful , comfortable and perfect for a family get together. The location near to town was also great. However, the accessibility was poor due to the very steep and slippery drive. We arrived in torrential rain and our car was wheel spinning on the drive and unable to gain traction. We had to park a fair way down the road and carry all of our stuff up the drive , which was also very slippery underfoot due to moss . The walk up and down the drive throughout our stay was particularly challenging for my 84 year old mum.

Not so great
Please be aware that the drive is not only steep but also sharply curved at the top. Only confident drivers should attempt this drive. Also although the is room for 2 cars technically there is not much room to manoeuvre once 2 cars are parked. House was fine but one toilet handle kept coming off and another needed a bucket to flush. My husband left some bank cards behind in error and despite being told they would be sent back to us (we agreed to pay postage) they were never returned and further messages ignored.

Moor House,Totnes
A well loved, spacious family house . We were a family of 9 who enjoyed our nine nights stay there and appreciate what a lovely family home it must have been. Quite dark inside some of the rooms but guess that adds to the atmosphere! The house is in need of a little TLC, which in a house the size is understandable. Of the three toilets one only flushed easily. One only flushed using a bucket of water being poured into the pan. The third toilet had the handle coming off which had to be refitted multiple times. Some kitchen doors were in need of refixing/rehanging. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with crockery, glasses, utensils etc. Maybe overstocked! Some things I would regard as basics were either not supplied (like washing machine powder, standard tea bags) or supplied in very limited quantities (washing up sponges, toilet rolls etc). Communication with Matthew was excellent. A little disappointed no one warned us the Rayburn was faulty which meant very limited hot water and alot of time wasted peering at central heating controls! Previous reviews mentionned the steep drive, we parked on the road for most of the time which was fine.

Wonderful!!
Our stay at Moor House in Totnes was lovely. Mathew Pike - the proprietor - was very helpful. Self check in was quick & easy. The house was extremely homely & the complimentary scones, jam & clotted were a nice touch.

Wonderful house, perfect for family gathering.
Our family group stayed at Moor House in June to attend a wedding. The house is wonderful, there’s lots of room for all with the two lounges and large dinning room. Two staircases, which our grandchild loved. A well equipped kitchen, with ample crockery on the dinning room dresser. The garden is lovely with views over the countryside. The driveway is steep but we parked three cars with care. We visited Blackpool Sands beach about 10 miles away. The host, Matthew was terrific. He was very quick with communication and helpful with our requests. We’d love to visit again and explore Totnes. Thank you Matthew.

Very comfortable and well appointed house in a lovely area
Grand Victorian house which was extremely comfortable and with four large bedrooms and a further smaller bedroom was perfect for our family gathering. Lovely peaceful and sheltered garden was very relaxing in the sunshine. Also in a great area - very accessible to Dartmoor and to the coastal towns of Dartmouth Paignton and Brixham

Moor House
Very comfortable and well equipped house which we enjoyed very much. Appreciated the food essentials which were left plus the scones, cream and jam which were delicious and a great start to our few days in Devon. Would certainly recommend this house which really is a home and hope to be able to return for a longer holiday. Thank you to Matthew.

Great place
Absolutely everything you could need, lots and lots of space, felt homely, lots of interesting books and decor giving it character. Very quiet location and handy for town. Only reservation ( and why I rated as a 4) is that there was no mention of the extremely steep driveway/path to the house which would be an issue for anyone with mobility problems. But if you're as fit as a fiddle, then this rental would rate as a 5.

A home from home...
I visit this house with family and friends twice a year at least. It’s homely, comfortable, spacious, beautiful and full of quirks and character. Matthew is a fantastic host and goes out of his way to accommodate us. We really feel we so lucky to have found this wonderful place. It is now forming amazing holiday memories for our children and we all are super excited to return again. Totnes itself it also a beautiful town full of quaint shops and a fab choice of great cafes and restaurants.

Wonderful second stay
A fab stay in a beautiful home. Lovely location - and only 15 minutes away from the zoo and not far from the town. Three families staying and plenty of parking for 3 cars. Set in a picturesque location. Comfy beds and fuzzy towels made our stay so homely. A wonderful getaway.
