It is situated in the South Devon Area of Natural Beauty and is as near to the grandeur of Dartmoor as it is to the many lovely beaches, coves, river and coastal walks that abound all within 20-40 minutes drive. The Torquay area known as the 'English Riviera' is a next door neighbour. You can take gorgeous days tours from Totnes to Dartmouth on the riverboat and steam train back via Greenaway's, Agatha Christie's house and Paignton.
The town itself is brim full of unique and original small shops, selling anything from shoes, toys, arts, crafts and gemstone jewellery to books (both new and second-hand) and craft supplies.
A wholesome range of yummy bistros/restaurants and pubs abound, catering to every taste, with much emphasis on sourcing local and organic produce.

Sunny aspect, beautiful views and a modern interior
Located at the top of the hill in Bridgetown, Totnes you could easily spend the whole week just sitting in the sunroom enjoying the view. An easy walk down to the town but with a bus stop literally outside the front door we opted to get the bus back up the hill for only £1.20 each.
The property has been beautifully refurbished with an open plan living area which we loved. The main bedroom is large and also has the lovely view. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you might need and there is a utility area with a washing machine. The bathroom is modern and has a generous bath with a powerful shower overhead. There is also a second separate toilet.
We felt very at home here from the moment we arrived and would thoroughly recommend this property.

Lovely, serene, peaceful space
We stayed for a week in Sept 2018 and were very pleased. Rob the caretaker was welcoming. Lovely deep and hot bath! Very comfy bed. Lovely garden and conservatory area with stunning views. We found it very easy to relax here. Fully equipped kitchen, lots of storage space.
Good location, situated at the top of a hill. We don't drive so we walked or got a bus / taxi if we didn't fancy the walk. Totnes is stunning with so much to do. Try the Albert pub, very nice nearby and there is a corner shop nearby down the hill with local produce.
There is a drawer with loads of leaflets / maps etc to get you started.
We'd definitely book this place again.

Great Views
The property is light and airy, a modern open planned kitchen and living space. It is well equipped and comfortable, providing everything necessary for a relaxing self catering holiday. It has great views across the valley from both the sun lounge and the garden. It's a 15/20 minute walk down a steep hill into town but the bus stop is directly outside as an alternative.

Peaceful location
We stayed for a week at Tresco in August with two kids. It is in a nice quiet location, with lovely views out over Totnes, about 10 minutes walk to the town. The highlight for us was sitting in the sun room / conservatory at night time and watching meteors flashing past !
Clean, well equipped. My only quibble is that the double bed mattress is getting a little soft. I'm used to something quite firm and my back didn't appreciate being in a curved shape all night. I'd recommend replacing soon. Other than that, I can recommend Tresco.

Very comfortable bungalow in great location
Very comfortable, well-appointed bungalow with fully equipped kitchen (including a microwave) and spacious living areas. The rear of the property faces south so the dining room, living room, main bedroom and garden all benefit from southern sunlight and the conservatory has sunlight from early morning to mid evening. There is now an outdoor seating area that overlooks the garden which we would have used had the weather been warmer. The owner was away, so the charming caretaker, Rob, met us on arrival; he was extremely welcoming and very helpful with advice and information. Tresco is well situated for trips into Totnes (by foot, bus or car) and other places of interest such as Plymouth, Torquay, Dartmouth, Babbacombe (great model village and cliff railway here). A bus stop very near to the bungalow has buses to, for example, Plymouth - we didn't use one this time but will investigate on a future occasion. A great base for exploring Dartmoor and southern Devon.

A comfortable holiday home in a stunning location
We had a very enjoyable stay at Tresco this August. The open plan style was wonderful for our two little ones and the home was very well equipped for a family of 4. The highlight for us were the views from the sunroom-stunning! We would definitely recommend Tresco to future families.

Great location, lovely property to relax in
Tresco is a lovely property and perfect as a base to explore the area. It's a short walk down hill to the centre of Totnes , which is full of character, shops and restaurants. It's a handy location if you're not driving - we used local buses to get to the moor and the coast. The conservatory opening onto the garden was a happy place to lounge and relax after a day out sight-seeing.

Comfortable and peaceful place, 5 mins from Totnes with great views and facilities
We stayed at Tresco for a week in June. All booking and communications were easy and smooth with Jo the owner. The location is ideal being 15mins walk or 5 mins car ride from central Totnes and has parking (rentals in central Totnes often don't have parking facilities). The house is spotlessly clean and modern inside and Jo the owner has thought of absolutely everything to make guests comfortable. The bathroom is great, has a fabulous shower and the bedroom was spacious with super comfy pillows and bed linen. The house is spacious and tranquil. We had a perfect nights sleep every night and some enjoyable evenings sat outside admiring the view. It was far better than staying in a hotel and to be recommended. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Disappointed
Although this is a nice property what the owner fails to tell you is that although listed as pets not welcome this is because she has one who lives in the property with her or the caretaker when it is not rented out.
We found dog hair every were which was quite distressing as my daughter is allergic to pet hair and spent the first half of the holiday with swollen eyes, when I brought this to the owners attention she said it was up to me to clarify regarding animals living at the property, silly me I thought this was the very reason you list as pets welcome or not!
Also had to prompt in order to get my to get my deposit returned!!

The market town and port of Totnes is a magnet for visitors of all ages not just for it's ancient history and unspoilt charm but also for it's alternative culture.
There is the Totnes Museum in an original Elizabethan merchants house in the Fore Street, the Norman motte and bailey castle at the top of town and much else.
You will find unusual gift shops, original clothes, shoes and crafts boutiques, art and craft supply shops, galleries, and bookshops. Several shops sell wholefoods, organic foods, healthfoods and home-made and local produce.
The popular twice-weekly markets reflect the exceptional range of what Totnes and it's surrounding area has to offer and draw an eclectic mix of people.
The wide range of restaurants, bars and bistros cater for all tastes (and pockets), using the best ingredients that this abundant region provides, and Devon is noted for the high quality of its farm, dairy and seafood produce.
Totnes is a perfect point of access to the coast, the moors, and so many local places of interest. The next door community of Dartington is an attraction in itself, with a cinema, spectacular gardens fine dining and medieval architecture.
Totnes justly earns its recent descriptions as 'the capital of New Age chic' and one of the world's top 10 funky towns!
Here, there truly is something for everybody.
