There are three bedrooms upstairs; one double, one twin and the master ensuite room, which can be set as kingsize or with twin beds if preferred. As well as the ensuite shower room in the master bedroom, there is a separate large family bathroom upstairs with a big tub and double sinks, plus a downstairs cloakroom. This cottage (which is actually quite a spacious house) is beautifully positioned at the bottom of a tiny lane overlooking the small river and the Downs. There is next to no passing traffic but it's a one minute walk up the hill to Alfriston central which is delightful. There are four pubs in the space of 200 metres. We ate in The George a couple of times. There's also tea rooms and a little shop that takes you back in time. We walked over the South Downs to Jevington for lunch in the Eight Bells which is always good. The views are breathtaking and our dog loved it too. Seaford is only 10 minutes away which is a pleasant seaside town with a nice promenade. The cottage itself has a sizeable master bedroom with a decent ensuite and the family bathroom is enormous with a jacuzzi bath. Everything is provided that you would ever need.

Where better to spend a long weekend than on the banks of the river with miles of fields to tramp across, within a stone's throw from one of the best boutique hotel/restaurants in England (The Star at Alfriston), nestling at the foot of the glorious South Downs. Plenty of exercise, fresh air and cosy nights in, we had a wonderful stay. Riverbank was lovely....attention to detail from the owners was obvious, with all mod cons and no expense spared. Really comfortable and welcoming. So much to do and see locally. Vineyards, pubs, Cadence Cycle Club, the coast nearby and the picturesque village of Alfriston. Will stay longer next time and enjoy Sussex at its best. Highly recommended.

Fabulous spacious and newly decorated property, just a couple of minutes walk to the centre of the village with a wonderful selection of eateries and shops. Owners could not have been more helpful and the property amenities were superb. Lovely terrace and amazing countryside views with woodland and downs walks on your doorstep. Would highly recommend and our family will definitely return.

About the neighbourhood
The house is literally on the South Downs, one of the UK's most spectacular walking/biking trails. How about taking tours of the nearby vineyards? Or taking a bike tour (you can hire bikes, including electric options)? Eastbourne is just the other side of the hills which has all the essentials, cinema and real life if you fancy it or head in the other direction to sample all the delights of Brighton.
Getting around
There are buses and of, course, you can walk freely along the South Downs Way, but a car is helpful to get around.
