Comfortable large house superbly located for winter walking
We are a group of friends who always go away together in early January. We look for lovely, large mansions in beautiful places which can usually be rented at very competitive prices at that time. Lakefield House full met our expectations - comfortable, warm, spacious and superbly located. We also expect dreadful weather but, amazingly, we enjoyed a completely dry week with superb views and lovely winter light and great walking.

An ideal house for a large group.
We as a family of 10, have stayed here 3 times now. Twice in Decembers and one week in the summer. The house is huge, with plenty of space for everyone. The upstairs lounge with t.v. and games console was especially appreciated by the 4 kids to get away from us annoying adults. The kitchen and dining area are very spacious, with a utility room as well. 2 fridges plus freezer mean you can stock up on food and not worry about shopping. There's a boot room for muddy shoes and wet coats. All the bedrooms are well equipped with good bedding and storage. The open fire in the lounge is great during the colder nights, but you need to take your own logs. We all felt very comfortable here, looking at the fantastic views through the lounge window, it's a great place to relax. The house is in a lovely little village, Beatrix Potter's house is a 2 minute walk. The local pub is good, but need to check on opening times. Hawkshead is a 5 min drive or very walkable in about 30-40 mins.

A lovely holiday accommodation, well worth a visit
This was our 4th visit to Lakefield House and again it didn’t disappoint. The position is wonderful with fantastic views from the lounge windows, the property is spacious even when full you don’t feel on top of each other. It has everything you could want to make a comfortable and enjoyable holiday.

A beautiful house in beautiful scenery!
A beautiful house in beautiful scenery. Fantastic local walks and great access to the whole of the lakes. But with the stunning view from the living room you could stay there all day. Great facilities inside the house with comfortable and spacious rooms. Modern appliances in the kitchen too. Hoping to return soon!

Idyllic stay
We had an amazing time staying here as a group of 9. The house is superbly located, with an amazing view of the nearby lake from the living room, lovely walks both from the front door or a short drive away, and a country pub a 3 minute stroll away. The house is also extremely comfortable and well equipped, with thoughtful touches throughout and lots of space (including upstairs space that doubled as an office for us when people needed quiet). Would highly recommend for families or groups looking for a base to enjoy one of the most idyllic places in the UK

Just Fabulous
We had a lovely family holiday for 9 of us and two dogs. I cannot recommend this beautiful house highly enough. Very clean, comfortable, very homely and absolutely stunning views. Everything you could wish for and more. We will definitely return. Fabulous walks, lovely local pub and a nice little walk to the ferry over to Bowness too! Oh and a park nearby for the little ones. Perfect

Great location, lovely cottage
Stayed a week in this lovely cottage. The view from the lounge is beautiful and the cottage is well set out with a good sized bedroom, very comfortable. Have already booked to come again. The owners are nice people, helpful and very fair.

A comfortable, spacious property in a beautiful location
This property ticked all the boxes for us - everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom, the house was spacious and welcoming, the beds were comfortable and the location was superb. The view from the lounge window was so beautiful, you could just sit there and gaze at it, feeling very tranquil. The kitchen was large and well-equipped and there was plenty of room for dining in. An added bonus was the self-contained top floor - perfect for our new arrival and her parents, who could tuck her up quietly then join everyone else for dinner downstairs. The icing on the cake was the pub just a couple of minutes walk away!

Beautiful views from a very comfortable and spacious house
This is a very comfortable and well-equipped house in a lovely part of the Lake District. Beautiful walks around the west shore of Windermere, Coniston and Tarn Hows. Comfortable beds, kitchen had everything we could possibly need, stunning views from the large lounge. We enjoyed playing table tennis and walking from the door. We would certainly be very happy to come and stay again.

Great stay.
Stayed here with friends over the summer, for around a week, and it was fantastic. Great location, fully fitted kitchen, big lounge and lots of parking. Fantastic walks and pubs right near the house and only a short drive to local shops.
