Alternatively, city taxis and Uber cars are easy to find. ##Neighborhood Famous for its maritime history as well as being the home of time, Greenwich is a picturesque area situated on the banks of the River Thames with plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars, as well as the large expanse of Greenwich Park and The Wilderness Deer Park to explore. Many would consider Greenwich to be one of the most historically rich neighbourhoods of London, with the area dominated by the grand Old Royal Naval College and, further up the hill, the Royal Observatory which sits on the meridian line (the point from which all time zones are calculated around the world). The maritime heritage of the area is summed up in the presence of the beautiful Cutty Sark - an imposing old clipper ship used to speed tea from Asia to Victorian Britain - which is open to the public throughout the year. You can also visit the National Maritime Museum, in the grounds of the Naval College, for a taste of Britain’s nautical history. Greenwich is well known for the quality of its restaurants and pubs, so you’re unlikely to go hungry or thirsty during your stay here. For food try Zaibatsu for the best noodles and sushi in town, it gets busy, only takes cash and is BYOB (bring your own beer)! There are a few local favorites, Sefa for their Turkish grill and Mountain View, for their Indian cuisine. As for pubs, we recommend The Gypsy Moth, with it’s large beer garden and stunning views of the Cutty Sark, and also The Old Brewery, located within the beautiful grounds of the Old Naval College. Greenwich Market is open 7 days a week and features a wide variety of stalls selling everything from art to fashion and jewellery to delicious food. We particularly recommend The Andes Empanadas for a taste of South America. Recommendations from your host: - The Painted Hall in the Royal Naval College has a beautiful painted ceiling. - Saint Alfeges Church, visible from Randall Place, is also very pretty. Suggestions for restaurants: - Bianco 43 on Greenwich Church Street for excellent Italian food. - Also lots of excellent food available in Greenwich Market. Additional amenities: Full KitchenMore
