Excellent stay in this small but perfectly formed cottage, designed from the outset to be fully accessible. The main bedroom and bathroom are large, and the living/dining/cooking area is adequate if not big. It's nicely finished and furnished, and very well equipped. The welcome pack of food was much appreciated. Eating in the sunny courtyard was an added bonus. We'd have no hesitation in staying again, but if you're looking for negatives then really the only one for us was location. On the one hand there's nothing within walking distance - no shop or pub - but on the other hand it's not really isolated - there's no view and there are neighbouring houses quite close. It's hard to find good accessible accommodation, but I strongly recommend this cottage.

Stayed here for 5 days (July 2-7), excellent, cosy, spotless little cottage in such a serene, pretty location. A lovely welcome package of home made biscuits (very tasty😋), cheese bread, milk.. in fact all the basics you will need whilst here, provided by Karen and John who were next door, although close by, never hovered but assured us that we only had to knock if we needed assistance. We would highly recommend a visit here, and hope to be back ourselves very soon.

The Cheese Room must be one of the very best small cottages. The setting is beautiful and with excellent acces to places of interest. But most importantly for me was the great facilities for wheelchair access.

Thank you, Roger, for your very kind review. It is good to know we have got the cottage just right for wheelchair users but that it is still homely and welcoming. Guests always comment on the amount of places to visit and things to do - we consider ourselves very lucky to live in this beautiful part of the country. Do hope we will see you both again some time. Best wishes, Karen

How lucky were we to find this hidden gem in the beautiful rural setting of Shropshire. Fantastic accommodation, to a very high standard, everything one needs and more. We were greeted with homemade biscuits, butter, cheese and bread and Karen was lovely. A real home from home we couldn’t of wished for more. A truly memorable break we will be back! First class

From the time we arrived we felt relaxed and very comfortable in this well thought out and beautiful cottage. The location was fantastic with access to many attractions and everyone we met was very friendly. We had a warm welcome with some homemade fare and the owners were very accommodating and not at all intrusive. Even our very anxious dog did not want to come home and neither did we. We will definitely be returning

Cheese room cottage is beautiful. We wanted for nothing, everything had been thought of. Upon arrival the heating was on and a real tree in the lounge had its lights on, there were biscuits, mince pies, milk butter, cheese and a bottle of prosecco all waiting for us. The cottage is perfect for those with mobility issues and lovely if do not. very well equipped and amazingly comfortable beds, excellent shower and washer/dryer. even though we started our holiday on boxing day and did have some snow the cottage was warm and cosy with the added benefit of a log burner. The enclosed yard is perfect for our four legged friend who also enjoyed his holiday. The surrounding area is really nice. Some of our days out included Chester, Ludlow and Shrewsbury and the massive outlet village near Ellesmere Port for some bargains. Great places to eat too! Karen is the perfect host, she is there if you need her but not at all intrusive. It was also really nice seeing the beautiful Grey horses that live behind the cottage. We met them and were introduced to them and saw them most days going past the cottage. We had a perfect week and we will be returning, maybe in the warmer months as there are some great walks in the area.

My profoundly disabled daughter, 2 dogs, and I spent a great week in this beautiful, excellently equipped cottage. Everything you could want or wish for was either on hand or Karen(the owner)was more than willing to arrange or advise as to where you could get it. The countryside around the area is beautiful and if you're able you can walk for miles. An extra bonus was the lovely welcome pack provided. Another bonus was the small stable behind the cottage with 4 lovely horses owned by a kind lady who made lots of time for my daughter. A cottage that I would return to without hesitation! Lovely cottage, fab people!

Thank you so much, Lynne, and we are delighted that you love this beautiful part of Shropshire. We hope very much to welcome you again - perhaps we can arrange a trip down the river for you. Both the boat on the River Severn in Shrewsbury and the local canal boat trust have facilities to take wheelchairs - just a thought. Very best wishes, Karen

Relaxing break in the countryside, close to many attractions like Ironbridge. The cottage itself is well kitted out and homely. Clean and comfortable, it was a pleasure to stay and we hope to go back.

About the neighbourhood
Without exception all our guests agree there is a huge amount to see and do in this area. We have good golf courses all around us (Hawkstone Park, Hill Valley, Market Drayton and Oswestry), the West Midland Shooting Ground, racecourses at Chester and Bangor on Dee. Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet shopping centre is at Ellesmere Port. The foodie town of Ludlow is an hour's drive south, the historic city of Chester plus the Zoo are an hour's drive north and we are only 10 miles from the Welsh border. There is the historic Ironbridge near Telford, birth of the Industrial Revolution. Then there are steam railways, gardens too numerous to mention, castles and country properties - what more could you want for a holiday?
Getting around
A car is essential in this rural area of Shropshire. Many visitors find it a very peaceful area of the country as there is much less traffic than the south, hence driving around is a pleasant experience. There are very good park and ride facilities into both Shrewsbury and Chester. Car parks are cheap and in some places, such as Telford Shopping Centre, parking is free.
