The kitchen area offers a gas cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery as well as dining table and chairs. There is the addition of an outside space under cover with a BBQ to allow for inside/outside living. There is also a shower, toilet and sink on the ground floor. Sleeping space is provided by 2 double and 1 single sleeping lofts which are accessible by step ladders. The space allows for sleeping but not walking about. This is therefore a provision for the able bodied only. However a sofa bed on the ground floor will assist those less able. Bedding and towels are provided. Due to its wood construction, this is a non- smoking space. Let us know in advance if a cot or high chair is required. As an additional service a 6M Belltent could be sited close by with a double bed and 2 single chairbeds so sleeping an additional 4. This costs £200 for 2 nights and is available for the summer months only. When you arrive you will feel your worries lifting as you turn onto our long drive through the woods and emerge at the end with the iconic Glastonbury Tor in clear view upon the horizon. With the woods now behind you; giving protection from the outside world- far reaching, spectacular, panoramic views meeting the big open sky will welcome you. The fields around have been planted with wildflowers and has been set up as a wildlife sanctuary. So expect to see a whole host of creatures such as: Roe Deer, Foxes, Hares, Rabbits, Badgers, Kestrels, swallows, our Barn owl (hopefully!) and our resident Common Pipistrelle bats who live in the Log cabin to name but a few. All visitors will have access to the large wildlife pond and wildflower field which allows you to connect with local walks to the village and river. However, due to wildlife and conservation considerations, we are sadly unable to accept dogs. We are off grid with electricity supplied by solar panels and a diesel generator and as such we ask that visitors consume electricity and use the toilets with consideration. Most equipment provided is powered by gas. Mobile phones usually get 4G We are very environmentally concerned and request that guests recycle all their waste using the bins provided. Please bear this in mind when deciding what food to bring and cook. We are within easy reach of the A303 and A37 as well as close to Castle Cary or Bruton stations. There is a Shell garage and shop as well as a great pub called the Cross Keys in the village. The area is renowned for Cycle routes as part of the National Cycle Network and we are within easy reach of various National Trust gardens such as Lytes Cary, Barrington Court, Montacute and Stourhead. Local nature reserves include Westhay, Shapwick Heath, Avalon Marshes, Ham Wall and Bridgwater Bay. Fishing in the local river Brue is by arrangement with local authorities Other accessible attractions include Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Clarks village in Street as well as RNAS Yeovilton, Haynes Motor museum, Wells Cathedral and local cities such as Bath, Bristol or Exeter for shopping experiences. The Jurassic coastline is within a 1 ½ hour’s car journey to include Lyme Regis and West Bay. For the more artistic visitor, the nearby towns of Castle Cary, Bruton and Frome provide various artisan shops, cafes and markets for all tastes to include local foods and arts and crafts. The world class gallery and multi purpose arts centre of Hauser and Wirth which includes the Roth bar and grill is in Bruton just a few miles away. The Newt at Hadspen is a recently renovated Georgian house with Gardens, Farm Shop, Spa and working Cider Mill. We are positive there will be something for everyone within easy reach of the site.

We can provide a furnished Belltent which has a double bed and 2 single chairbeds in outside the Log Cabin during the summer months only. We hope guests will be mindful of their impact on the Cabin and the waste left behind. Recycling is a must and we provide all the facilities to do this correctly. Please also consider the type and amount of food and drink and packaging involved being brought here. Landfill must be a last resort as this attitude is better for all of us and the planet too.

The most perfect weekend Glamping!!
We stayed in the yurts at Old Summer Dairy over bank holiday weekend and I honestly cannot recommend them enough. The venue was absolutely perfect, so much space and so beautifully done, the location is idyllic too. Claire was fantastic during the booking process and was really lovely. I would recommend Old Summer Dairy to anyone wanting a get to together with friends and family in the most beautiful location.

Idyllic, wonderful stay!
We enjoyed two nights at the cabin and wish it could have been longer. The location is just gorgeous, beautiful countryside and with the Tor in the distance. Highly recommend it and would love to return!

A little spot of heaven
I can not recommend the Old Summer Dairy enough. This was our second trip as part of a group of 20 and it exceeded my expectations once again. Every little detail is thought of and you can tell there is a lot of time, effort and care put into this place. All the tents are beautifully put together, you have everything you could need in the kitchen and the barn at the back is perfect for gatherings. I can’t thank Claire and her team enough for creating such a wonderful place.

Wonderful
This is a wonderful place to stay. We've enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Very clean cabin, and the beds are comfortables.Lots of little things left by the owners to please and welcome us : fresh flowers, fresh milk and orange juice, scones, cream, jam, local beer… and the cabin is full of items to spend good time : games, dvd, wood to have a fire outside at night… and the owners (who live nearby) are very nice people. An only shame : it's too far away from us to allow us to come back sometimes… Thank you very much to Claire and Edward :)

Great cabin with all the mod-cons
We stayed here for two nights between Christmas and new year and really enjoyed it, especially our 5 year old grandson who loved climbing the ladder to go to bed. There was a bottle of cider and some mince pies left for us, which really hit the right spot. Despite the heavy frost it was warm inside and we were snug and content to all settle down to watch a film after a long day out and about. we would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who likes the unusual - but with all the usual amenities.

Gorgeous Log Cabin with mod cons
We have just got home from spending 3 nights at the gorgeous log cabin at Old Summer Dairy! It was stunning, the log cabin is equipped with everything you need for your stay!! Fridge, Oven, BBQ, microwave even a washing machine which we didn't use though. The whole place has a very chilled atmosphere and has gorgeous views over surrounding countryside with Glastonbury Tor in the distance. I had a whole itinerary scheduled for seeing the surrounding area and villages but when I arrived I just wanted to stay and relax around the cabin. Ed dropped off a bike for my son, and he spent hours riding round the fields...We went and had a look at the bell tents and their facilities and again there is nothing that hasn't been thought of, the whole place is beautiful and carefully looked after. We had a Firepit in the tipee as it was raining where we listened to music and played board games! We didn't want to come home and we are definitely staying again, maybe the bell tents next time with family members. Thank you Claire and Ed for a wonderful stay x

Best holiday accommodation ever
We were lucky enough to stay in the old summer dairy for four nights during the October half term. I can honestly say it was the nicest holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. The welcome was a warm one. Bikes were found for the children and we enjoyed a home made cream tea and delicious Tiffin which had been left for us. The barn is designed and decorated to a very high standard, the attention to detail is amazing. The children loved climbing up ladders to go to bed. They also loved the 'cabinette'; a little shed next door which has been turned into a children's playroom, complete with a wealth of craft activities. It was so peaceful here, we loved seeing the barn owl and deer outside the windows. In short, we couldn't recommend this place highly enough!
