Old England at its authentic best! 'Fair Haven' cottage dates back to 1837 and is in the very heart of Stratford upon Avon town. Shakespeare's birthplace is just 3 minutes walk away. You will go back in time as you enter this attractive abode with its timber beams and sash windows and be amazed as it opens up to airy and light areas with your own enclosed private garden. Once you arrive, the car is not really necessary, so if you are happy to you could park it on free street parking 20/25 minutes walk away. A gem of a place - enjoy the hustle and bustle of Stratford activities on your doorstep then escape to 'Fair Haven' for some relaxation. Great also for exploring the beautiful Cotswolds with their idyllic villages plus a day to remember at Warwick Castle. The cottage used to be a '2 up, 2 down' but has been extended downstairs to include kitchen, sun room and living room. Upstairs is 2 bedrooms with a Jack and Jill style bathroom. There is a box on the bookshelf in the living room full of tourist leaflets/pamphlets and bus timetables. Travel cot bed and high chair available on request. Please note there is a wood burner in the living room but this is NOT a working fire and no attempt should be made to start a fire in it. More

A very comfortable cottage near the centre of Stratford. Quiet with a delightful small garden at the back. The owner, Joanne, was very kind and helpful. The cottage is within walking distance of the theatre and Shakespeare’s birthplace, and also shops and supermarkets. I recommend a visit to Compton Verney, a country house, which contains fascinating art collections.

We loved our stay in Fair Haven Cottage. It was extremely comfortable with everything you would have in your own home. It has a lovely garden and we both said we could happily live in the cottage as our home. It has an excellent central position in the town and the open top bus stop is just over the road. There is an abundance of wonderful places to eat and drink and the river is only a few minutes walk away. The only thing I would suggest you take is bath sheets unless you are very tiny, the towels Rachel supplies are very nice and fluffy but too small if you want a modicum of decency when you come out of the shower room.

Great location for venturing out into Stratford. This is a bright and well equipped little home. The accordion door to the backyard area is amazing for bringing the outside in. We loved it and would love to book it in the future.

Excellent location everything you need (lovey personel touches especially being Christmas week. Only thing for being right in the middle of it all it does become rowdy which is fine if you have no children with you.The food was good at the red lion pub for and staff were excellent with our children and would recommend Magic Alley to see Father Christmas one of the best Santa’s is out fit was amazing .

So delighted you enjoyed your stay and the Christmas activities in Stratford. Despite being so near to town there is rarely an issue with noise - but one can expect some in Christmas week with so many celebrations happening. Thanks for your review.

This cottage is within easy walking distance of many of Stratford's attractions. The cottage is very clean and well equipped and the owner even added those helpful touches such as leaving some fresh milk in the fridge and tea bags etc. My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay here and despite it's central location we did not find it noisy. Parking is not allowed outside the house as the street is narrow but there are plenty of car parks very near by.

We were happy to be back in this well appointed cottage. Rachel thinks of everything and even left some lovely 'welcome to Stratford ' gifts. The cottage was spotlessly clean and ideal for us on the Shakespeare Summer School all week - just 10 - 15 mins walk from our venues. We will be booking again.

Fair Haven Cottage is in the perfect location, just a few minutes’ walk from the station and just round the corner from Shakespeare’s birthplace. The cottage itself is cosy, welcoming and beautifully clean. The owner, Rachel, could not have been more helpful, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book this accommodation again in the future.

As other reviewers have said, the location of this cottage is perfect. Two minutes walk to good bars and restaurants, five minutes to Sheep Street, and a couple more to the RSC. The cottage is exactly as described and spotlessly clean. We had a great time sharing the cottage with our teenage son and when we return to Stratford, we won’t look anywhere else.

About the neighbourhood
There is plenty to do right on the doorstep of 'Fair Haven' cottage. Go back in time as you visit the 5 Shakespearean houses to see where Will was born and grew up. Be inspired by the Tudor buildings throughout the town centre. Stroll along the river banks of the Avon; jump on a river cruise or hire your own motor or rowing boat to explore the waters around Stratford. The canal also provides great waterside walks plus the opportunity to hire narrow boats and try your skill with the locks. Relax on an Open Top bus or chill out in the numerous cafes and restaurants. Enjoy the delights of Stratford market which was awarded the best private market in 2014 and attracts many visitors each week. And of course, there are the theatres - offering tours as well as plays each day, throughout the day. ...
Getting around
The Shakespeare sights are in walking distance from the cottage. If going further afield to Warwick Castle or the Cotswolds, for example, the bus stop is a 3 minute walk round the corner of the cottage and the train station a 5 minute walk.
