Llangollen, Denbighshire, North Wales, Wales
Popty Pennant is an old bakehouse cottage on the Chirk Castle estate within the grounds of an historic upland manor house, sited in the glorious Ceiriog Valley on the Welsh borders in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. About the neighbourhood
Pennant is sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Ceiriog Valley, a quiet backwater, a jewel in the crown of North Wales, a long meandering valley starting at the Chirk Castle estate and winding up through the villages of Pontfadog and Glyn Ceiriog up to the remote hamlet of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog with its wonderful coaching inns. The magical town of Llangollen with its steam heritage railway, the Ladies of Llangollen's home Plas Newydd, horse drawn canal boats and international music festival is only three miles from Pennant and walkable along an old drover's route. The Llangollen canal is part of the Froncysyllte Aquaduct World Heritage Site, again only a short distance from Pennant. Pennant is also close to Offa's Dyke, an ancient earth works defini... more
