Fairfield is a delightful, two bedroomed Edwardian cottage all on one level. It is situated on the Northern shore of Loch Fyne, has panoramic views of the loch & the surrounding hills and is ideal for doorstep walking up into the hills or along the shores of the Loch. It is also a perfect base from which to explore the West Highlands. The cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard which successfully combines the convenience of contemporary living with the warmth and comfort of a cosy cottage. Many of the original features are retained, including high ceilings, doors and fireplaces. The cottage has been furnished with every attention to detail, from the gentle farrow & ball colour on the walls and fine linen on the comfortable beds, to the soft furnishings throughout the house which reflect the Highlands. Furnace is only six miles from Inveraray. With its famous Castle, Jail and a fabulous kilt (& more!) shop 'RedShank' , Inveraray is a “must do” visit. Lochgilphead, Kilmartin Glen and Oban (the Gateway to the Isles) are all within driving distance. Taking a ferry to Mull and/or Iona makes for a fabulous day out. There is a local village store/post office within five minutes walking distance. The nearest supermarket is in Inveraray. The area is well known for its fine food and local produce. The original Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and Inverawe Smokery both being close by (around 45 minutes by car)! Fairfield is not only a home from home -offering a multitude of things to fill at least a week, but also a wonderful place in which to unwind, relax and explore the immediate Loch and countryside, around the cottage or further afield. We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful little cottage. It was really easy to find and just a short walk from the shores of Loch Fyne. There's tons of parking space, a very large and stylish conservatory and lovely views of hills and sheep-filled fields. The rooms were clean, and nicely decorated and furnished. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils etc which were of a very good quality. However, on our arrival - after a very long drive - we found the kitchen to be a little sparse of groceries. It's usual to find staples such as milk in the fridge, instant coffee, and maybe mayo or ketchup in the cupboard, but there were none of these, although there were coffee pods and ground coffee (along with a bottle of Prosecco!). Also there was no soap, shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom, again things that are usually found. I popped down to the local shop to stock up only to find it closed... at 20 past 6 on a Saturday. Welcome to village life! However these are minor quibbles and I haven't hesitated in giving our stay 5 stars. The scenery is this part of the world is amazing and we visited some wonderful places both near and far from the cottage. I recommend Inveraray Castle as well as Crarae Garden and Ardkinglas Woodland Garden. Fairfield Cottage is an ideal base to explore the area, and it's one of the most idyllic and beautiful places we've ever stayed at. Many thanks for accommodating us!

Fabulous cottage, clean, stylish and well appointed. We really felt at home from home. The location was ideal as a base to travel throughout Kintyre and South Argyll. We recommend to anyone (and their dog) who wants to investigate this magnificent part of the world.

A lovely, well presented cottage with all the amenities you need. Beds with fluffy duvets and comfy beds. It really did give that 4 star hotel feel. The conservatory gives a panoramic view of the stunning view. So peaceful too. Lots of dvds and games for the cosy nights with a really log burning fire. It was very clean and beautifully presented with lovely touches that made it feel modern cottage and yet cosy. A lovely welcome gift left from the owner. Owner really friendly and responsive to any communication and questions, even recommending places to horse ride. A high standard of a cottage and a perfect base, with Oban an hour and Loch Lomond an hour. You need a car for this location. We visited Loch Lomond on the way through and didn’t return as there is so much to do this side of the lochs. Invereray is 15 mins in the car. Thats a lovely day out with a castle, prison and walks. The co op and a food londis are the only bigger food shops. In furnace itself there is a post office and little shop 2mins away. Really helpful. And a great walking knowledge with a board with some lovely walks on . Definitely worth doing. Easy with kids and about 3 hours. Loch Aww has a power station to visit and a good walk to the damn at the top. The steep walk- do Not do with kids! Its up a mountain face, we thought we had gone the wrong way, eventually got out but no way you could go back that way. Better to do the easy walk on the website. Argyle adventures is great for family fun. 5 mins down the road. Great horse trekking and crossbow, laser tag etc. Couldn’t find anywhere to canoe or do water sports. Oban or fort William had some, and there was some good ones too like river bugging but fully booked. So much to do we never got to do half of it, so will need to visit again as I can’t believe how breathtaking the scenery around here is. I would definitely come back to this cottage again!

The cottage was in a great spot for easy walking and touring. It is really comfortable with all the necessary equipment. The interior is decorated to a very high standard with tasteful picture. There is plenty of outside space for parking and relaxing in the garden.we had a great time there and would recommend it very highly.

Short breaks are hard to find at this time of year, so we were thrilled to find Fairfield available for a three day weekend and were reassured by good reviews. It was even better! The weekend was very wet even for the west of Scotland . We are used to that but really appreciated the warmth and cosiness of this cottage, so clean, nicely furnished & decorated and SUCH a comfortable bed! The kitchen is well equipped but we went out for lunch- it was a break after all! Though we knew the area, it was good to find places in Inveraray where we could have our patient little spaniel at our feet. At breakfast and dinner we loved eating in the spacious & comfortable conservatory , enjoying the sun when it deigned to make an appearance, and feeling superior and cosy when the rain played percussion on the roof! The ad mentioned it was not suitable for disabled. My husband is arthritic and the only thing that concerned him was the height of the bath- for a short break, he was happy to extemporise! This was an excellent experience from the start ( very prompt & friendly communicatons, not to mention the Prosecco! Thank you, Patsy.

This is a lovely, comfortable and well-maintained cottage with wonderful views of the surrounding hills and the loch across the road. The kitchen is clean and well-equipped (with even a dishwasher and clothes washer), the living room is very cozy and great especially on rainy days (the wood-burning fireplace works wonders!) Our favorite room is the atrium which gives that feel of being right in midst of the beautiful Scottish countryside. Yet this cottage is close to many attractions including 2 superb gardens, authentic old Scottish village museum, Inveraray Castle and town, fishing village of Tarbert, Kilchurn Castle, Glencoe and the spectacular Highlands, and Loch Lomond and Trossach National Park. Thank you, Patsy for having us stay in Fairfield Cottage. Maria and Tom

We stayed here for 3 nights in May, found it to be very good. The cottage is on the main road through furnace , with fields to the rear and the loch Over the road . It’s immaculate, perfect size and layout for 2 -4 people with a lovely conservatory on the back . Lots of parking in the garden area and secure for any pet. A car is needed if you intend eating out , but I cant see anyone arriving here without,so no problem. Loved our stay ,thanks Patsy.

We arrived as storm Ophelia dragged her way across Scotland. Our first night was spent indoors -cosy and well entertained by games, dvds and a complimentary bottle of prosecco. Thankfully the weather improved and we enjoyed trips to Inverary, Kilmartin and a Oban. A great base to explore Argyll but return to clean, tastefully decorated comfort.

My wife and I have been traveling to Inveraray every Sept/Oct for well over 10 years until now we have always stayed in the same accommodation. This year due to a mix up we found ourselves needing to make a last minuet booking. It was with trepidation we pulled onto the drive of "Fairfield". First impression was of a delightful and immaculately maintained garden. Opening the front door any worries were immediately put to rest. This cottage is simply delightful, it is clear the owner has put a great deal of thought into the decor and presentation, every room is well furnished, comfortable and cosy. Everything you could need from your accommodation for a break in the west highlands is catered for. Oh and did I mention the views.... Book this cottage with total confidence, your will love it!
