Everything you could need for a relaxing peaceful break. Store cupboard essentials all provided, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, cooking oil etc. Wine, biscuits eggs and chocolates left as a welcome pack. Carton of milk would have been good as we arrived on a Sunday and no shops open in Lewis. Best days out, luskentyre beach, bosta beach and for...

About the neighbourhood

Lets start where our cottage is situated out in the Glen. South facing you can just chill out and read a book, enjoy a warm summers day or a winter gale. On request we can supply our own peat and get a nice toasty fire going. If you ever wanted to see Golden and now sea eagles the Glen is the place to be. I defy you not to see them daily. Even sitting on the fence post at teh back of the house.SPECTACULOR.
The area is known as south lochs. For no other reason that there are litterally thousands of freshwater lochs and there are many good quality brown trout lochs nearby. However for the more expert take your pick of the many salmon lochs and surprisingly...

We recommend the following three routes run by Caledonian Macbrayne:

Ullapool to Stornoway - Caledonian MacBrayne operate regular car ferry services from Ullapool to Stornoway. Ferries run daily from Monday to Sunday throughout the year, sometimes running 3 times a day during the summer. In 2014 our NEW larger ferry The Loch Seaforth will take over the service.

Latest check-in before departure for vehicles is 45 minutes and passengers is 10 minutes.

The journey is usually around 2hrs 30mins. The scenery on leaving Ullapool and going through Loch Broom is breathtaking. It isn't unusual to see whales and dolphins in the Minch.

Tarbert - Uig (Isle of Skye) - Caledonian MacBrayne run a car ferry service between Tarbert and Uig on Skye . It runs up to three times a day in the...
