A commission to create contemporary dwellings in a spectacular, natural setting has created cottages that perfectly blend with their dramatic surroundings. With exceptional 180 degree views from their cliff side locations, the hills of the Isle of Harris provide the ultimate backdrop to an ever-changing seascape.Ideally located for wildlife watching, these discreetly placed cottages deliver exclusivity and a relaxed, low-key ambience. Guests can expect a stay of exceptional serenity and a chance to unwind in an unspoilt, natural environment.Architectural originality and imagination are reflected in the strikingly contemporary glass, stone and timber design of the cottages. Barrel-vaulted, high ceilings and exposed, curved beams lend themselves to an airy atmosphere while a muted colour palette, use of natural oak furnishings and beautiful Belgian linen upholstery and fabrics create restful, elegant interiors. Discreetly added amenities, under floor heating throughout and a subtle lighting plan designed by the award-winning team at John Cullen Lighting add to the understated luxury of the cottages. An open-plan living area provides: an observation lounge with log-burning stove; a kitchen area, thoughtfully equipped by a keen, amateur cook; a dining area with views across Loch Erisort and access via French doors to a stylishly furnished, private terrace carved into the rock. Each cottage offers a luxuriously proportioned bedroom with blissfully comfortable Super king size bed. Crisp white Egyptian cotton linen, Canadian Goose Down duvets and a pillow menu, will help ensure a supremely restful night's sleep, aided by the fresh sea air. The ensuite bathroom is furnished with a deep soak double-end bath, walk-in rain shower, double basins and bespoke polar pine sauna. You may be reluctant to leave your cottage with its interesting and eclectic library of books and films, as well as binoculars, telescope and wildlife identifier books. But should you need to keep in touch with the outside world, a Wi-Fi connection is at your disposal. For outdoor enthusiasts, bicycles and fishing rods are provided along with beach towels, Thermos flasks, picnic hampers and Ordnance Survey maps.More

Everything was perfect in our cottage. Couldn’t fault it - once again. The very high quality has been maintained and it was perfect to celebrate the start of my retirement and an anniversary. This place is so special, hence my third visit. It deserves all the 5 star reviews I’d rate it even higher if I could. Kathleen communicates really well with guests and was good enough to arrange a superb restaurant booking in advance and a Sea Trek outing which might have been tricky for us to do in peak season. Overall, idyllic. Weather mixed bag but still had a FAB week. Thoroughly recommend.

Just wanted to add my review and say thank you for an amazing holiday in your beautiful cottage. The accommodation is pure self-catering luxury with a view to match. After spending our days exploring everything that Lewis and Harris have to offer we always looked forward to getting back to our cottage and to hunker down for the evening. The specification of every little detail from taps to cutlery is outstanding not to mention the welcome pack which I'm still dreaming about! At the risk of sounding over emotional I had to fight back tears when we first checked in knowing the place was ours for a whole week! Looking back through the pictures I took during our week on the islands some of my favourite ones are the view from the cottage. If you get the opportunity don't hesitate to book Eagle Bay, it delivers everything it shows in the pictures and more.

We have just returned from a week at Eagle Bay and can honestly say it's one of the best places we have stayed. More spacious than the photos show and the view is perfect whatever the weather. We really looked forward to getting back and enjoying the evening after a day exploring. Everything you could need is provided in terms of kitchen and dining, plus picnic equipment and all items are of a really high standard. The cottages are perfectly located as a base to explore all of Lewis & Harris and feel remote, yet close enough to Stornoway for food shopping and access to the ferry. A high degree of attention has been paid to Covid cleanliness at changeover.

I have stayed in many places all over the world but this is truly special. The peace, tranquility and pure luxury. The owners cannot do enough for you even when you partner is a cake monkey…..It was one of the very few luxury paces where we could take our border collie who loved it too. The location is excellent to visit all of the island to come back for a relaxing evening, hot bath or sauna….don’t miss out! This is one of the wonders of the world with views to match…..

We had the most delightful stay in this wonderful cottage. The surroundings are beautiful and it is the perfect space for 2 people. Everything has been done to a very high specification and the cottage is beautifully laid out, providing a relaxing and very decadent environment. Outside, it's remote and calm, with the view over the loch never failing to deliver. Kathleen and David could not have been more obliging - nothing was too much trouble. They've thought of everything, including providing bikes with the cottage, which we loved using. We will definitely return.

It is rare to find a holiday place that rates soooo many highs - the Isles of Lewis and Harris environment, landscape, wildlife, history/historical sites, beaches, roads, walk paths, Lochs, fishing and water pleasures, THEN, have accommodation in 1 of 2 Eagle Bay Cottages. Magnificent residence with brilliant 24/7 views of the Loch, mountains and Skyline. Huge living/dining area, massive bathroom with Sauna, Ballroom master bedroom, laundry ammenities, 3 most welcomed Hampers and flowers, outdoor area, 2 well maintained cycles/helmets, fishing rods.... A credit to the owners. And if that’s not enough, all ferries were cancelled due to EXTREME weather - we were stranded (happily) for an extra 2 nights. Without hesitation, the owners extended our stay free of charge. I rate all the above a 5+ and so will you! Thank you Kathleen. Cheers, Linda and Phil

We booked for 2 weeks and quite frankly could have stayed for a month. The location is stunning and beautifully remote and for the Isles of Harris and Lewis still very convenient for local supplies from Stornoway when you need to stock up. Kathleen's attention to detail, prompt responses to emails before & during the stay were almost without exception, by return! The quality of the bed linen (The White Company), the toiletries (REN) and the cookware (le Creuset), sound system (Bose).... give you some indication of the quality of everything that awaits you. Oh... and then there's the welcome hamper! From Champagne to tea, coffee, milk, fruit.... incredible. I can't speak highly enough of quite frankly everything that we experienced. I would highly recommend and endorse to anyone without exception. A beautiful, unique retreat with Sea Eagles flying by, walks across the local croft stunning & pretty much everything on the isles within a 1 hour (ish)! drive.

I have stayed in some amazing places but this beats every one. It’s isn’t cheap but you actually get what you pay for. I wish it had been around for our honeymoon 16 years ago. It is the MOST romantic place I’ve ever stayed in. The owners are a delight. Fast to reply to silly questions and just lovely. I keep pinching myself to remind me I am actually here.

We have just had the most wonderful stay in luxury accommodation at Eagle Bay cottages on the Isle of Lewis. If you want to get away from the world and find peace and quiet in stunning surroundings this is the place to be, There are two cottages which are set in the rocks above Loch Erisort and we stayed in the higher one Airidh Sonas. The views over the Loch and to the mountains beyond are spectacular. The cottage is equipped with everything for your comfort including under floor heating, a sauna and a log fire, in fact no detail has been missed. There is even a telescope so you can make the most of the views, and if you are lucky get a glimpse of the sea eagles. This really is an amazing place. Thank you Kathleen and David for a wonderful experience.

Stayed for a week and can endorse the many positive reviews already posted. The cottage was fabulous, the location was breathtaking and the standard of decor, fittings and equipment truly superb. The hosts were very welcoming both in person and with the welcome hamper. The cottage is conveniently situated for the many attractions that Lewis and Harris have to offer. It's not the cheapest accommodation on the Island but you get what you pay for and this cottage is worth every penny. For what you get it is excellent value for money and we will definitely be back in the future.

About the neighbourhood
Looking south west from the cottages, the Eishken hills form a rugged skyline. Here, the 43,000 red deer forest is one of the UK's last wilderness areas and home to 13 pairs of golden eagles. In a westerly direction, the hills of Harris come into view which include the highest ground in the Outer Hebrides, the Clisham at 799 metres. A favourite with walkers, a return trip to the summit takes around 3 hours. Expect to see mountain hares and golden eagles. North west takes you into the Soval Estate with its myriad of freshwater lochs and the Laxay river system which has a run of salmon and sea trout making their way back from the sea through Loch Erisort into the river from June to September. Wild brown trout fishing is available on the estate for a modest charge, with fly, spinner or wo...
