A Vibrant Tourist Centre Donegal Town is also a vibrant tourist centre with a great selection of hotels, shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The renowned Magee of Donegal shop on the Diamond is well worth a visit. On the outskirts of the town is the quaint Donegal Craft Village. The workshops in this village are leased to professional artists and crafts people. You can meet the artists and watch them working with glass, bronze, textiles, wood, paint and precious metals. Visitors have an ideal opportunity to purchase unique Irish craft and design; one-off pieces that are simply not available anywhere else. Spent the new year here, family of 5 and our dog Barney. House was spotless, had all we needed, great beds and great location, 5 minutes drive to town centre or 20 minute walk. Definitely would recommend and hopefully be back again soon.

This well equipped bungalow is very well located being about a 20 minute walk into the county town of Donegal. Although we were only two it has everything a family could want for a week or if it is your first visit to Donegal make that longer. Excellent beaches are within a short car drive and on many you may the only the only people there. Donegal town has many facilities with restaurants across the budget range along with pubs to enjoy the Irish music scene. Also many leisure facilities. Finally the owner was quick to respond to enquires and easy to deal with

We loved our stay in Ballydevitt Retreat. Communication with our host Paula was easy and efficient. The house was warm and spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it for others.

About the neighbourhood
Fantastic for walking, great beaches and costal paths. Great for exploring the wild Atlantic way. Donegal Town has lots of great restaurants, lots of live music and lots of independent shops.ballydevitt Retreat is a great base for exploring Co Donegal and all it has to offer. There are lots of ideas of where to visit in our visitors information book.
Getting around
You really need transport as Donegal has limited public transport. There are no trains in Donegal just private and national buses that go to the major towns. You can hire cars from Belfast Airport or Dublin Airport. Please be aware and check with your Car hire regarding car insurance for crossing the border if you're hiring in Northern Ireland. Avis do not charge but some companies do!
