Sandcastles Beach House is a beautifully finished pine beach house with two independent units: Duneside and Meadowside. Each unit has two bedrooms, a full bath, washer & dryer and a fully-equipped kitchen, including dishwasher.
Sandcastles easily fills the needs of everyone from individual couples to groups of up to 14 celebrating reunions of families or groups of friends. We can customize in this way because we have two units which are adjoining and yet fully private and self-contained. So you can rent just one side and soak up all the beauty our location offers. This was my second year in a row staying in the sandcastles beach cottage, and for the second year in a row- my experience was wonderful. The cottage comes with everything you need to stay entertained, regardless of the weather. The hosts provide board games, DVDs, puzzles, books, sand toys, bocce ball, boogie boards, and even a fire pit. Having access to a washer/dryer during the week, as well as a dishwasher, stove and microwave made the stay stress-free. There’s also cable TV and high speed internet which is convenient for the rainy days and late nights. The cottage has a beautiful view of the lake from the patio and balcony-perfect for sipping your morning coffee and watching the birds come and go.
The neighbourhood is quiet and the beach is less than a minute walk away. If you travel the path across the dunes, you will most likely have a large section of the beach all to yourself. Also, the very popular Thunder Cove beach is just a short walk away with lots of fun caves to explore.
The hosts are lovely and frequently have the same guests booking year after year which is an excellent testament to the care they put into their cottage and the guest experience. If you get the opportunity to book this awesome spot, don't hesitate!

Amazing Beach Just Steps From the House...
The house is a perfect location, takes barely minutes to access the beach. There is a full sand path to the beach, eliminating the need for proper shoes. Full kitchen with BBQ and a great view over the pond behind the house. Anything we needed was available and we wished we could've stayed even longer.

Peaceful getaway - Sandcastles Beach Resort
We sought out a quiet, private space near a beautiful beach and this spot was perfect for us. The beach dunes are huge and the beach is one of the most spectacular beaches to walk and the water to swim in. All sand! Great trails a short drive away to mountain bike and roads are good for running and road cycling (the cars are respectful). We hit it off season which made it even more enjoyable with less traffic.
Most amenities included at this Rental. Owners kind and available if needed.
Thoroughly enjoyed this spot and would go again!

Excellent Beach Rental
Our stay at Sandcastles was wonderful. It's a perfect location by the greatest beach, with a lovely view over a pond, with spectacular sunsets. The cottage is well equipped and spacious. The owners are very helpful, and think of everything you might need. We hope to be back again soon.

Perfect vacation place
I rented Sandcastles Beach House, Duneside for a family vacation in 2015, and it was absolutely perfect. There were 5 adults and 2 children, and we fit nicely. First and foremost, the location is the best anywhere - 2 minute walk to the beach, even for my 4 year old granddaughter. Best beach in the world 2 minutes away! The cottage itself is lovely and homey, nicely decorated, well appointed, big bathroom with laundry (always lots of hot water), outdoor shower, (a must-have for me), the decks with views of the dunes and the pond are great for relaxing and birdwatching. There is a variety of toys, lots of towels, good appliances, and all the cooking, food prep utensils you would need. The location is good for activities away from the beach as well, such as shopping for groceries, gifts and alcohol. Golf courses and restaurants are nearby. But do stay at the cottage as much as you can, it is good for the soul!

Wonderful week at Sandcastles!
What a wonderful experience we had at Sandcastles Beach House. We found everything to be just perfect for a relaxing week by the beach, with a gorgeous view, comfy beds and everything we could possibly need at our home-away- from-home. The location is perfect for visiting other PEI attractions, and the natural beauty of the dunes is spectacular. Thank you!

Paradise
This has been our third summer renting from Brian and we already have next year booked! This beach house is amazing! All you need to bring is your clothes and food......everything else you could possibly want is there! It is spacious and clean! Whether you are a beach person (a gorgeous private beach awaits you within a two minute walk) or prefer to lounge on the beautiful deck with a spectacular view the choice is yours!
So if you want a place to unwind and recharge your batteries this is definitely the place for you! It really is a piece of paradise!!

Location, Location, Location....It's Outstanding!
This property is beautifully appointed and maintained; anything you could need or want for a family vacation or couples get-away is right here! Immaculately clean, the beds were comfortable and the rooms spacious. Washer, dryer, barbeque and great library much appreciated by those who might want to relax on the deck overlooking the dunes and tranquil pond. The location is spectacular; a mere hop and skip away from a stunning beach that is ideal for walking, swimming, shelling, and exploring the impressive dunes. Only a twenty minute drive along peaceful country roads to the small city of Summerside, and closer still to the village of Kensington, dining and shopping options are plentiful. We couldn't say enough about this rental and will look forward to returning on our next visit to the island.

Perfect location found - stop looking!
This sweet place is situated in the most perfect location. The furniture and decor are basic but there is almost everything you could need in the kitchen, bathroom and guest rooms. What makes this place most special is what's available outside. The views from the house are of a beautiful lagoon (?) off the lawn where we watched the birds in action (bring binoculars), and grassy rolling sand dunes which lead to the beach. There is a deck on the main level and one upstairs also to enjoy this view (from upstairs you can also see the sea). The beach is so close you can hear the waves; it is about a three minute walk up the lane. The beach itself is wild and beautiful with soft sand, and it seems to go on forever - great for walking. Because there is no public access, there is no crowded touristy feel to it, but rather just the joy of being in nature. We had two teenage boys with us and they actually voluntarily left their iPads to go exploring each day - yay!
A fairly short drive will take you to Kensington for a little nose around: Flowers and Friends (I think I got that right) was a sweet little gift shop with lots to look at, Frosty's ice cream was tasty, and they have a Tims!

Yes...all ages seem to be intrigued while exploring the beach, dunes and cliffs. We couldn't agree more about the location being exceptional. It is so wonderful to slide the bedroom patio door open and to be lulled to sleep by the ocean waves. All the best!

About the neighbourhood
Sandcastles is close to entry points to the new 'Island Walk' hiking route (section 15-16), as well as to the well known Confederation and Homestead trails which are enjoyed by cyclists as well as walkers. We are also a bird watcher's paradise. MacKay Pond (also known as Morrison Pond), which borders our front lawn, abounds with great blue herons and seabirds of all types. You can sit on our upper or lower deck and marvel at our resident eagles as they soar over the pond. Golfing is phenomenal on Prince Edward Island; there are eight courses within 30 minutes of Sandcastles Beach House. At dusk, ever changing sunsets explode onto the pond just outside the patio doors.

Directions from Confederation Bridge: 30 minutes Once across the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick, take Rte 1A to Summerside. Turn right on Rte 2 to Kensington. At the Kensington traffic lights turn left on Rte 20 to Malpeque. In Malpeque, turn right at the corner with a church. Drive toward Darnley, still on Rte 20. After 5.2 km from Malpeque church turn left onto Penderosa Road. Take this road for 2 km. until it ends. Drive behind the paved turn-around and go left for 200 meters. At the T turn right onto Island Beach Drive. Sandcastles will be the second cottage on your left. The blue civic # near the road is 139. Duneside Cottage door faces the road and the Meadowside door is on the left.

Go straight through Kensington (the road becomes #20) and onto Malpeque. In Malpeque, turn right at the corner with a church. Drive toward Darnley, still on Route #20. After 5.2 km from Malpeque church turn left onto Penderosa Road. Take this road for 2 km. until it ends. Drive behind the paved turn-around and go left for 200 meters. At the T turn right onto Island Beach Drive. Sandcastles will be the second cottage on your left. The blue civic # near the road is 139. Duneside Cottage door faces the road and the Meadowside door is on the left.
If you are booking flights to the area, we are 45 minutes from the Charlottetown Airport, 1.5-2 hours from the Moncton, N.B. airport, and 3.5 hours from the Halifax, Nova Scotia Airport. Consider checking direct flights to Moncton as there can be considerable cost savings to this location.
