We have had a great holiday in Baden Baden. We hope to return again as there is much more to do and see than we had time for in our 8 days. When we return, we will first look to book this spacious accommodation, as we found it perfect for our needs.
The website describes the property well. Additionally we would wish to mention the abundance of towels, linen, tea towels etc. There is absolutely no need to bring extra for the Spa or for the other open air swimming pools there are in this area. There was a good supply of toilet rolls, cleaning materials and the little extra things you need in the kitchen, oil, and condiments etc. – all things that can inflate your costs when you self-cater.
Our hosts live on the first floor of the property, but their access is round the back of the property where they have their own garden. This means everything to the front of the apartment is very private and, when we found the time, we could sit out in the sun or in the shade whichever mood took us. Our hosts were completely unobtrusive but made it clear we could contact them at any time for any needs or local knowledge.
The location is superb too, being in the countryside but only a 12 minute downhill stroll to the old town. The first big store is WagenerGalerie which houses a high quality food market on the 2nd floor – think Waitrose/Edeker. The stroll back up the hill is a little more strenuous 15 minutes, but is a charming fully tarmacked wooded valley footpath.
The apartment is also situated very close to the Baden Baden Panoramic Way, a 40 km circular trail that leads all the way around the city. A hike of less than 2 km brings you to the ruined 11th century Alte Schloss with its magnificent views over the City and a surrounding countryside.
We had intended to hire a car for the duration of our stay; however the convenience to the town plus the local public transport made this unnecessary. There are some very good value bus and train tickets to be had but by and large the locality undersells itself in this regard. Though all the information is in the public domain it is not so easy for holiday makers to find it.
We recommend highly this accommodation and also the area.
