Explore the beautiful Weald of Kent for a romantic few days glamping in our comfortable old apple shed. Situated in over an acre of meadow, yet only 5 mins walk to the village. The full size double bed is as comfortable as at home, the wood burning stove is warming and the atmosphere is romantic. The Apple Shed was built when this was a working apple orchard and lay unloved for many years. But just look at her now! Converted using reclaimed, recycled and locally sourced materials wherever possible, she is designed to give minimal environmental impact. Well equipped, (yes! a real loo, hot shower and pocket sprung bed!). Well insulated and double glazed so warm and cosy as toast in winter.

Fantastic stay
We had an amazing stay, Kate, the host so welcoming and provided us with loads of good info about the area and we loved the location and ‘Apple Shed’ itself so cosy and warm. It was a real escape rather than normal b&b/hotel.

Houses a few metres away not shown in phoographs
The photos in the advert are misleading, there is a fence about 8m from the glazed front entrance of the shed and decking area (although it feels closer) and new build houses on the other side - built in August 2023. Not secluded at all, you can enjoy the outdoor lights of these houses alllll night, and the clattering of the residents going in and out of their sheds and voices in the gardens. We were even treated to a bonfire on the fence perimeter. We spent the weekend indoors with the curtains closed. There is also significant road noise, especially from motorbikes. The shed itself is OK, although a few safety concerns need to be addressed such as a large unmarked trip hazard in the kitchen and deadly slippery decking. Noting 'decking is slippery' on the outside of the property doesn't really cut it, give it a clean! Host just said no one had mentioned the housing estate before and was unconcerned. Probably because its only been there for a couple of months...I'm certain it will be raised by future guests, but the photos and description need to be updated to provide an honest sales pitch.

Great little hideaway
A great place to get away from it all! Switch off from WiFi and really get back to Nature! Kate was lovely and we had a homemade cake on arrival. Will definitely be returning for longer next time!

Wonderful!
Me and my partner had a wonderful stay here! We got to switch off from the rest of the world which was lovely. There was no WiFi or TV which was fine! There was a selection of board games and books inside which kept us entertained. The shed is secluded in the middle of a field and so peaceful! When we first arrived we were greeted by Kate who showed us the way to the shed whilst we wheeled our belongings down in a wheelbarrow. There was a lovely homemade cake in the shed for us too! The weather was quite warm during the day but we did find when we woke up on the first morning we were quite chilly. A really lovely and cosy place to stay for a romantic weekend away. Thank you :).

A wonderful retreat from the modern world!
Just what we needed! This accommodation is peaceful and relaxing and comfortable. Having no wifi and no tv was lovely. The owner, Kate, made us feel at home on arrival and had baked a lovely lemon drizzle cake for us. We stayed for five nights and whilst the weather outside was quite nippy at times, especially overnight and early morning, we were as snug as a bug with a roaring log burner. Plenty to do in the local area and further afield. If all the trappings of modern life are your thing then do not book here; hpwever, if like us you enjoy camping and want somewhere to get away from it all then this is for you! You will need to use the Baby Belling and the Log Burner to cook on as there is no hob or big oven. If you don't fancy that though there are a couple of pubs within walking distance! The kitchen does have a toaster and a kettle. Don't forget your wellies or some walking boots. You will nee this to walk from the car parking area up by the main house to the apple shed which is in the middle of a paddock. Say hello to Toast the pony who is often in the field too! We would definitely return here if we were in the area.

A home from home in a field
What a lovely place. Situated in the lovely Kentish village of Bethersden, the Old Apple Shed is a wonderful home from home. My wife and I stayed for two nights in late October for her birthday. From arrival to departure, Kate made us feel welcome in this special place. The place is cosy and has lots of nice things to discover - the Baby Belling oven, log burner, very comfy bed, decking area outside. Added to that the fantastic lemon drizzle cake on arrival and the occasional visits from Toast the pony, and the Old Apple Shed is a brilliant place to escape the rest of the world and just relax. Bethersden has two lovely pubs nearby and both do food. The Bull is more expensive but has a better vegetarian range than the George. The local post office/village stores has all your essentials, whilst Marchants has some fine local produce. All in all, The Old Apple Shed is a splendid place to stay, and we’d recommend without reservation.

Cozy country get away
We had an amazing time at The Old Apple Shed. Kate was a great host - picked us up from the station (&let us play with the puppies!) We stayed for a weekend and could easily have stayed for longer. Did two great walks with help from the maps left in the shed. 7mins walk into a little village where we picked up some delicious food from the butchers for the BBQ. We ate dinner at The Bull inn - good, reasonably priced food and an ideal location. The place itself is really beautiful. Set in a fabulous rural location but easy access from London by train. Thanks for a fab weekend!

Gorgeous country escape!
I bought a 2 night stay for my boyfriend as a Christmas present so we'd been looking forward to our stay at The Old Apple Shed for a while, we weren't disappointed. From wheeling our bags in a wheelbarrow down to the meadow, the rickety gate opened to a little piece of 'glamping heaven'. Very secluded and private, this converted shed was really quirky and very comfortable. A log burner, comfy sofa for two, well equipped kitchen (for camping standards) a cute bedroom and en suite with hot shower! We spent the first evening in, fire on and playing one of the board games left my the owner, the second evening we ate at local pub 'the bull' which was fantastic. All in all a great getaway from the stresses of life, in a simple and comfortable quirky retreat for two!

Brilliant stay
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We loved our one night here in the peace and quiet surrounded by gorgeous countryside. The setting was idyllic with animals and birds, and the Apple Shed itself was quaint and cosy. It had everything we needed and we enjoyed fresh lemon cake on arrival. We had a lovely meal at a local pub and enjoyed our time away from wifi, tv and city life. We also loved meeting the black lab puppies who had recently been born! Would absolutely recommend!

Great Birthday Present - A must for a quirky stay.
So lets start with the basics, this is a converted apple shed in the middle of a field. So if you don't like the idea it might be cold or you might get muddy then this is not for you. However if you are happy campers looking for something nicer then this is a great choice. This was a birthday treat and one I did not know about until the start of the trip down. We were welcomed nicely, walked down via a little track to the field and were greeted by a perfect little hide away (with Toast, the pony, popping his head over the fence to check out the new visitors). Everything the website mentioned was there and over our stay there were no complaints. Nice touches included the homemade cake (it was lovely especially as it was my birthday) and the vintage Baby Belling which I made a cooked breakfast on the next day. The bed was extra comfy and enough blankets for a very cold night. The addition of the wood burner also means you should never go cold. The site is very close to the Village, its few shops and 2 pubs (easy walk to all). A friend had suggested the Bull and though we were having food in the shed we popped in for a drink. Another good find. Overall this is a great place to stay if your into Georges Amazing Spaces (UK TV), want a quirky and romantic getaway or just want to take your camping into glamping. I am sure we will be back and very soon. Sub note TOAST - This may not be for all but the fact the family Pony does wander into the field of a morning made the stay. Definitely no bother, has a great temperament (meaning you can get a few pats in) and loves the odd photo opportunity.
