House Rental
Apartment located in a stately building in the center of Salerno, with a large courtyard, a beautiful garden with a separate entrance and private parking. The garden, surrounded by a wall of bricks, was part of an old orchard which keeps perfumes and atmospheres. Remains protected and hidden by the surrounding buildings but, coming out of the gate, the visitor finds himself in the heart of the city, with shops, restaurants, markets and all the best that provides the city of Salerno.
The apartment maintains the structure and finishes original and, even where it had to step in to replace implants, have been used traditional materials Salernitana, such as hand-painted ceramics from Vietri. Maybe the best apartment in all Salerno. So happy we found it.
Cannot say enough complimentary things about this apartment. (I think there are so few reviews because people who stay there don’t want others to know about it.) First, it’s in a great location. This bright, clean apartment is right in the heart of beautiful Salerno, a five minute walk to the Lungomare, maybe 10 minutes to the train station, and maybe 8 minutes from the Duomo. The supermarket (Ete) is a three minute walk away. It’s got a spacious living / dining room with new furniture, two large bedrooms with queen beds (and an extra twin bed in the larger of the two). The bathroom is in the hall, with a good shower with plenty of hot water (bring your soap and shampoo). Good washing machine. The terrace is enormous. We hosted a dinner out there for 10 (but it could have fit 100). The owner is in Rome, charming and always available by text and phone. And she’s got a guy who does the gardening and minor repairs liking replacing light bulbs. In short, we could not imagine a nicer apartment to rent in Salerno. Here are a few hints…
Hint #1: the best way to enter is through the two gates off of Via Principati. For this, it is best to have an Italian cell phone (we got great eSims through Orange). But it can work with a cell phone with a US (+1) number. Be sure that the owner has registered the number ahead of time and test it. Once we got it working it was a breeze.
Hint #2: The trash collection is on a detailed schedule. Once you get it, it is a snap. The concierge in the office can be helpful on this.
Hint #3: The silverware is in a drawer in the kitchen table. Clever, but not obvious.
Hint #4: Via Principati can be a little noisy at night. Bedroom window closed, it’s fine.
In short, you won't be disappointed.
