Rome, Lazio
Set on a hillside overlooking Lake Albano this little independent studio is ideal for a couple or single person who wishes to experience Italy outside the usual hotel/guesthouse environment. It is a peaceful location of natural beauty only 30 minutes from central Rome. The balcony, with table and chairs for eating outside al fresco, overlooks the lake and provides a peaceful setting for a quiet drink before dinner with the lights around the lake shining below.

The English owner lives nearby and is happy to make herself available if necessary for help and advice. About the neighbourhood
The local area, known as the Castelli Romani, comprises 13 small hilltop towns and villages each with the remains of an ancient castle (hence the name) and is set the foothills of the Appennines only 20 km from central Rome. Some of these villages are already well known, such as Frascati, Castel Gandolfo and Marino, and the others are there to be explored.
Castelli Romani wines are famous throughout Italy and the hillsides are covered with vineyards and olive groves. Ever since the days of the Roman Empire, the area has long been a cool and beautiful setting for holiday houses. Noble families built their palaces in the hills to escape the long hot Roman summer and brought the wines from their vineyards back into Rome for the winter months. The light fruity wines from Frascati and Mari...

How to get there
Airport: Ciampino Airport serving Ryanair flights: 7.0 km
Railway: Castel Gandolfo links to central Rome: 1.5 km
Arriving directly from overseas, visitors are advised to use the low cost airline Ryaniar which flies into Rome's Caimpino airport, only 15 minutes away by car. The owner is always happy to meet guests at the airport for the modest fee of €10, as opposed to the €40 charged by taxis.
Other airlines land at Fiumicino airport from where regular direct trains leaving every 20 mins link take tourists to Termini station in central Rome, from where a local train to Castel Gandolfo leaves every hour.

Arriving by car is very simple. From the Rome Ringroad (Grande Raccordo Annulare) Exit 23 leads directly to the Via Appia in the direction of Albano passing the Airport of Ciampino. Immediately after the airport there are signs to Marino along the Via dei Laghi from where a seven km drive in...
